Anyone know the fate of the 6.8 western?

And With, a 30 grain Heavier Bullet = MORE,. Recoil !
The .270 WSM with, 140 gr. Berg's going, 3,200 FPS, IS, at, Normal "Hunting Ranges", a DRT "Killer" with, "reasonable", Recoil and, the Bullet is, STILL going OVER,.. 2,000 FPS at, 800 Yards !
IF needing, "More Bullet" I'd go with, a bigger, High BC, 7 MM, personally, like in,.. a 7 PRC, 7-270 WSM, or, 7 SAUM,.. probably !
JMH, Opinion,. as usual !
Ah yes, there you are Idaho 🤣

I'm not surprised at your opinion at all but will counter it with my own which is that 30 grains bullet weight hasn't in my subjective experience meant enough recoil difference to notice or at least be bothered by it. Can't tell much difference between 195s and 225s in my 300 win mag, or 75s and 100s in the .257 wby, 140s and 180s in the 270 (I did experiment with the 180 grain woodleigh bullet years ago) …but I also acknowledge I'm an oblivious man sometimes haha, a bit of a recoil junkie, and I honestly don't notice a huge difference in recoil between 3 and 3.5 inch 12 gauge shells either when some folks claim it's night and day.

My tastes are less refined and discerning haha

ADG makes brass for 6.8W. Folks already loading it from initial run back in Oct. On recent podcast they said next full production run of 6.8W is Feb.

Lou
Well hot dog. Thank you sir! Maybe I should consult the giggle next time before assuming. This definitely puts it on my list.

I'm not sure the differences there. I am also considering a 270 Sherman short. Same performance in a true short action. Anybody have one of these?
I have a 270ss and absolutely love it! It has a 20" barrel and shoots the 150 NABLR at 3075FPS. I haven't tried the heavier pills, since I have 400 of the 150's. I've taken elk out to 630 yards with it. In my opinion, its a fantastic short action cartridge!

@ Calvin 45,..
As an old Dinosaur from, the PRE- Brake, "Era" I could Tell, the Difference in Recoil, between 150 grain. .30-06 and 180 grain, .06,.. ammo !
Ouch !! That was, Back in, the 1960's to 1980's or,.. thereabouts !
30 Grains, is probably NOT anywhere near, as noticeable with, Today's, Muzzle Brakes, tho !
Love the 130 grainer's, in a BRAKED, 6.5 Creedmoor 24", Tikka @ 2,800 FPS for Pure,. shootin' Pleasure !
I gave, the .270 WSM, Tikka, to, my grandson !
It's "Braked" Now and, he shoots, the Chit, outta, it ! ( Got his first, Antelope with it @ 268 yards a couple of, months, ago )

6.8 western recoil is very manageable for me. Anyone one who can't shoot the 6.8W should probably just go get their nails done. 🤣🤣🤣
UN-Screw, the Brake or, Can and go shoot, 12-15 rds of, those 170 Grainer's,. Off, "the Bench" and Come talk to, Me
As a Young Pup, I used to Shoot an UN-Braked, .338 Win Mag with, 210 Noslers, whistling Out at,.. 2,987 FPS and,..
Off, the Bench it, Was, a Fun, "Handful" to Say, the least !
But, the Rifle "Clover Leafed" 3 shots touching, Every Year, so I didn't need to do More than, some "Cold Bore" Testing and,. Go,. Hunt !
Today's Brakes,.. ARE,. "Sweet" !

Curious about what the fate of the 6.8 western will be. Anyone have any hot tips on if shot show is going to have any 6.8 news? I want to rebarrel my 6.5prc and this is a top contender, but without some more support I'm likely to go to a different route.
Cheers
IMO, it just needed a couple minor tweaks to work perfect. I would have made a 35 or 37 shoulder and launced with high quality brass and higher bc bullets ready from the launch. No surprise it didn't...but if they would have...just imagine.

Assume a case with 80gr of H20, short action compatible and premium brass with a 175gr bullet with a a .350 G7
That would have been amazing

I have one, I like it, wish Browning and Winchester could do more to support it.
The "Life and Death" of, the 6.8 Westerner IS in, the Hands of, "the Bean Counters" and IF, NOT, "Popular Enough" it, will soon, go by the Wayside,
My opinion from, Years of watching Cartridges that are, "Close, in USE" to, One another.
To be safe, Buy a bunch of Ammo or, Brass and Dies, If, you're Worried.
