Do you guys find that the white finish on it reflects light? I love that color but I feel like it would be "shiny" in the sun

I'm just convinced it doesn't matter, enough that my new build is polished stainless.

I once hunted with a guide who wore a white cowboy hat every minute of the day and saw him stalk a bull to 100 yards with the shooter

Critters don't seem to care too much when your 500+ yards away, and I don't wave my gun around for them when I'm stalking closer, plus I have to wear florescent orange when I'm rifle hunting anyway......wouldn't be my first choice for a combat weapon of course, but people are a little different than deer and elk

The finish on the stock has a matte texture so I don't think it would really reflect. Even if it did, I agree with what most have said, it wouldn't matter.

A bit simplistic, and I've never seen a government agency say "deer can't see orange"

it, like many things is far far more complicated than that.

This is a bit old, but good info none the less. https://digitalcommons.unl.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1279&context=icwdm_usdanwrc
It has been known for some time that deer can in fact see orange. That however does not mean they see it as we do.
this one might reflect a bit

I read an article that said that lighter colors (like fde) can be seen more easily by deer than darker colors (like bark brown)--- but then again, the gvt swears that deer cant see hunter orange

the reason hunters are required to wear orange is in a broad and rough sense because it is one of the lesser noticed wavelengths for them, and one of the more noticed for us. At the end of the day It's hard to hunt successfully when you're dead after being shot by another hunter, because like deer humans are idiots as well.

Big problem with the bolt on the wrong side, at least for some of us.
My smith told me that too, he said he would fix it for a small fee ha ha.....

My first rifle was a lefty, and I loved it. Build a couple since on right handed actions since they were more readily available. But this one I wanted to build it just for me, so I held out until I found a left hand action. Trying to decide if I want to do some cerakoting or not, I think I'll see how it looks in stainless first before I do anything.

My buddies dad was a DNR Officer for GA for 35 years. He said the hunter orange law was passed so DNR officers can find you easier. Lol
