That's close, know anything about process ? That your rifle? Looks a lot more "finished"than pic I submitted…

No sir not my rifle.....I don't know anything about the process other than he calls it McSwirly. It costs extra and I'm a tight wad 😂, plus my barrels are considered consumables and don't hang around long.
 
I heard it's done between centers ,in a lathe with a DA sander.
The first barrel I saw it on was done by Dan Doweling(sp?) in about 1973-4.

That's a rough example. It's done with an orbital sander while the lathe is spinning. The ones I've done, and the ones that I have seen use a much finer grit paper which I think looks better. Some people call it a whirly gig finish. Each to his/her own I guess.
