Anyone ever had a scope turn purple, just sitting in the box??

I wonder if there was some ammonia or something else making fumes that turned it that color. Kinda interesting color.

i have come across a Leupold VX-III from 2009 that has discolored to the pattern of the cloth wrapped around it. but its interesting because the purple shows only where the holes in the cloth were. any ideas?

I saw a very $$$ Kreighoff O/U shotgun turn purple...and it was a DEEP purple shade. Was told it was not uncommon for Kreighoffs to do that????
