Anybody having luck with the eld vt bullets

Awesome! 🤣 and a nice skinning job too!
Oddly enough I've only shot two coyotes with the VT so far. Really just got back to predator hunting this past week. Both were shot coming in hard to the call. First one at 40 yards and the second one at about 60 yards. I'll be curious about the terminal performance at 200+ yards when a dog decides to hang up on me.

Switched to the 62VT in my 22 Creed for this years PD trip. Ended up on 39.5 of N150 jumped .040" @3730 average, 4.4SD(Varget happened to be 40fps faster at same load, but I had more 150 on hand than Varget). I took care to not get the barrel too hot, since 150 is temperamental. Probably switch to Varget for next year.

I was able to try these again today. I jammed them 10thou and went to a max charge. It brought the 5 shot group down to an inch, might be able to get them to shot after all. Still needs some work though. They are some quick little buggers, 3365 out of my 223 ackley

Woah - that looks like something out of a horror movie. I have never seen terminal performance like that with any bullet or cartridge.
Ya that Coyote looked like swallowed a grenade inside but the fur was in good shape. No idea how that bullet could do that much damage but not come out at all.

The .224 62 grain H VLD VT bullet provides extreme satisfaction in the tiny .223R and better than that in bigger ..224's like the .22-.250 but a real quick twist is needed. A cross section of the 62 .224 VT will show extended void between the plastic tip & lead core. This kind of indicates a extended separation between bullet center of mass and center of pressure. Without putting fins on the bullet or moving the center of mass forward a quick twist is needed to impart gyroscopic stability. My 7.7 twist .22-.250 shoot real beautiful groups at ranges exceeding 400 yards with remarkable extended point blank holds on 2 inch high targets on ranges just under 350 yards, 200 yd zero, like pop can rodents.

Another factor to consider is the extreme low form factor of the 62 VLDVT. The form factor being the ratio of the bullet sectional density divided by G7 BC. This provides a realistic evaluation of bullet performance as the BC values are commonly determined by both shape & mass and the 62 VT bullet has less mass but relatively high BC for mass thus the low value form factor (sectional density/BC), the 62 VT can be driven at 3700 - 3800 from my 7.7 twist .22-.250 with a variety of mid burn rate powders.

Just finished putting together a 22 ARC bolt action rifle. 20 in barrel, 1:7 twist, short free bore (0.062) and silencer. Messed around at 100 yards getting it on paper. Moved out to 200 yards and shot this group. Factory 62 grain ELD VT ammo. Ran out of ammo, will try to duplicate today if weather cooperates.

My AR is struggling to maintain 1" groups at 100 yards. 20 inch, 1:8 twist barrel, and short free bore (0.062) same ammo.

Happy New year, Mike
