Any info on 17/223 Remington?

Based on your above comment then a 17 Hornet would be another option. It's centerfire so it can be reloaded and would be a tad quieter.

The 17-223 will still be the easiest to source brass and dies for.
Yes, I was given an abundant amount of 223 brass stamped LC but not stamped with a caliber. I was going to make some 300 BO cases but I have sufficient for the 17-223 as well. I put a lot of thought into it, but could still be wrong. I have plenty of powder and I believe I have some 17 cal bullets from Midway.
Now I just need to figure out how to safely contact Cjuve. I still don't have those privileges. Frustrating! Makes a person feel unwanted or kike a second class citizen. I understand the problem with scammers, but my reputation is sterling. A check on Coursewhitetail would verify that. I've been here for two weeks and posted many comments, much more than 10. Reputable people on here know me and welcomed me. What does it take? Do you have to buy your way in?
Sorry, just venting a little frustration.

Otherwise, the 204 Ruger would be a possible choice, but as mentioned before, I have concerns over the bullet remaining intact and don't want the higher BC.
I had a 17-223 built on a Sako short action. It had a thumb-hole walnut stock and scope. Had to keep bullet velocity below 4200 FPS or the 25 grain Hornady bullet would disintegrate. Great for varmints, great for accuracy and very little recoil. I needed some money back in the day and had to sell it to pay the bills. Based it on the H&R model 17-223 of the day.

Thanks, that helps. I've built an AR 17-223 thanks to help from another member but I haven't had time to start my load development. Life got in the way. Hoping to get to it this coming spring.

I'm not 100 percent Certain, so I'm just going to ask, are you wanting to shoot a actual 17-223? Or just neck down 223 cases to 17 Rem? you can do that, however the case is about .035 shorter which is not a terribly big deal, just means you may never have to trim a case, im a big fan of the 17 Rem, I have had at least one if not two in my possession since 1979, I've taken around 300 coyotes using one, at max velocity using a 25gr bullet sighted 1.5 high at 100 yards its 1.5 low at 300 yds, RCBS makes or at least they did back in the 70,s a single die that would allow you to bump the should back, then a pass thru a full length sizing die and one was ready to load and shoot, depending on chamber dimensions case necks may need to be turned, my first 17 was a Rem 700, I formed a couple hundred 223 cases and shot them in that rifle with no problems or accuracy change between case's I latter decided I should have a 17 on the little sako action which quickly became a favorite rifle,

I believe that the AR platform is developed on the 5.56mm and not the 223. The AR will fire the 223 cartridge but if I understand it right the 5.56mm chamber of the AR is a little longer thus it will fire the 223 cartridge. But a 223 rifle may not except a 5.56 cartridge. When I had my 17-223 built I made up a dummy hand-load from a 223 cartridge with a 25 grain Hornady hollow point bullet. I took the round and action to a gunsmith and had him chamber and seat a 17 cal barrel for that specific cartridge.
You should be ok with the AR platform. I forget the twist in the rifling I had in mine but it was built on the H&R 17-223 model.

You could give him your phone number in a post. Assuming he's ready to write it down. Then delete the number from your post. Shouldn't be to many people writing your number down within a possible minute or so. Just an idea. Assuming you can at least edit your post.

The kak 17-223 would seem like a starting point. They have a big disclaimer the data is for their chamber... but I'd probably use their starting data over going in blind.
