Another reason Why I hate California

Yeah, I have to sell my PS90 and AUG before I move. And it's OK that for hunting i'll have to use non-lead projectiles but I'll d@mn sure use lead in my target rounds.

AND I discovered my wife and I, filing jointly, will have to pay 8% state income tax on our pensions. JUDAS PRIEST! Social Security is not taxed - YET. Worse yet we have not received a cost of living increase in our pensions since we retired from teaching in Pennsylvania in 2002. Yet another kick in the balls for educators.

So my wife and i are re-thinking our proposed move, strongly re-thinking it.

We moved from TO area. It's still a fairly conservative area, for California lol, but not without it's problems. First off people down there have been fighting against the liberal establishment for decades. The problem is too many people drank the koolaid. Next they have enacted new laws which deemed violent felonies into "non violent" felonies with NO jail time. And finally if the cost of living due to taxes concerns you then the other expenditures for home owners will send you over the top. I'd strongly advise against a move there. The only reason I can see to move there is if you have kids or grandkids there. If that's the case I'd get a cheap motorhome and visit often. It's not that far a drive from Nevada.

You didnt need your social security card, if your driver's license has a current address you should have been good with your retiree credentials. If it is an old address or po box you have to prove current physical address- this is atf mandate not ca doj. Such a hassle, I always get a chuckle walking in carrying concealed and having to come back 10 days later to pick up my new gun

Your in a Demo controlled state! I live in a Rhode Island and have a LEOSSA permit. I frequently visit a BassPro store in Massachusetts, cannot buy brass, bullets, powder or anything to do with reloading!! So I can carry nationally, but.....cannot purchase reloading components, unless I have a ammunition purchasing card ($300) and a class so I can buy components; ridiculous!!

Why on earth do you people live on places like this? I refuse to even spend a dime there. Nearly starved to death in the seattle airport last year on my way to alaska. Vote with your checkbook if the ballot box doesnt work. Just dont move here and bring any of those stupid ideas with you. Leave them there.

LOL well people live in places for work, family, where they were born, and a multitude of other reasons. My family moved to California in the 70's for work. I've personally got involved with meeting on various laws/ policies ranging from 2A to hunting/ fishing rights. And after decades of fighting I finally left. It's pretty easy to sit on the sidelines and say "You should do this, or you should do that". Well IMO liberalism is a virus and it's coming to YOUR state. "It will never happen!"? Yeah well that's what they used to say about restricting gun rights in California. I've watched it spread across this nation and it's coming to a theater near you. Just my 2 cents worth.

I am 72 years old, lived more than half of that in CA, from when I was 2 years old in 3 stints. Leaving CA was a great boon to us, financially as well as lots of other things.

Still have good friends that live there. I like the physical state of CA, cannot stand the politics, gerrymandered voting laws districts and residency "requirements" all designed to keep politicians in office, regardless if they know the difference between chewing gum and toothpaste

They tried it here and we voted them all out. They have a grip on the school board and we are fighting them off.

I respect your opinion about Cali but as a native Coloradoan, a purple state where folks generalize about politics, I see a difference, even with our mass influx of migrants and vagrants. We have had some interesting developments in the areas of gun rights in the form of a state effort to increase the number of shooting ranges. This happened in the peoples republic of boulder, where recent anti-hunting efforts were shot down by the local commissioners and the decision is already made to create a new range or add to Boulder Rifle Club, in Boulder county. I think the difference in terms of ridiculous left wing politics being inevitable or not, is when things like hunting and shooting sports, are sold out when compared to commercial development. I see numerous cases where this happened in CA.

Colorado and California are actually a good comparison. At one time California was considered a sportsman's paradise. Hunting, fishing, and firearms were once big industries in CA. Heck Sierra, Weatherby, and numerous armories were located in CA. And CA once a fairly balanced purple, and even red state. So let that be fair warning to all states. I hope other states don't become like CA. But I watched what happened there, and I see the same pattern happening all over.

In As you simply need a driver's license, if you have a CCW you walk out the same day with your firearm. Unfortunately for us we have so many people escaping comunist California and coming to Arizona and now they are trying to turn us into California.
I agree with a previous statement people scream and yell about having to show ID to vote but you need to provide 30 different types of ID to purchase a firearm, only in California would this make sense.

Due to NICS system many states let you walk out the same day with a firearms purchase. If you pass the background check, since that's Federal I believe ALL purchases in gun store require that. In Oregon I don't need a CCW to walk out the same day with a firearm. And due to all the training I received I didn't take any classes or tests for my CCW either. All that training was in Cali too lol. I had more training then many SWAT dogs, yet I couldn't get a CCW in Cali. Walked in the local Sheriff's Office in Oregon with a stack of credentials and the supervisor told the clerk just to pick one lol.
