Almost too easy

Turpentine 21,

I'm glad that the Irish Spring was helpful for ya. We had mice get into our camper. My wife absolutely hates mice, and would very likely leave the camper to face a bear outside if confronted by a mouse. She put about 20 bars throughout the camper…..several months later we still had mice and the mice had chewed on numerous soap bars!

She started putting peppermint oil on cotton balls placed in little plastic condiment containers all around the camper……the mice were gone in short order!

Good luck to the rest of you….the peppermint oil worked for us, while the Irish Spring did not! Jus Say'n!

Now, back to over previously recorded program! 😉 memtb
Perhaps this is why the old people back in my youth used moth balls ?

We have trouble with them getting in the attic but we have a larger issue. They and rats chew the wires on my lawn mower and gator causing a heck of a lot of damage. Same with the combine and farm equipment. I had to replace the entire wiring harness on the mower two years ago. We generally have a couple of squirrel shoots a year to knock the population back.
I've tried lots of different home remedies for deterrents. The best I have used is Irish Spring soap. I cut it into slivers and leave it in different areas on the equipment plus rub it on the wires and wiring harnesses. It seems to make a big difference. I also put peppermint oil in a spray bottle and spray it in hard to reach places where the soap is impractical. I figure it can't hurt.
Irish Spring not only works on rodents we put it on outside tables in August/September when the hornets get bad.

My squirrel has been scarce since we started working 6 days per week, 60 hours a week. That leaves only Sunday and the Sundays always seem to be the worst weather to hunt.

I hunt with my Savage BMAG .17 WSM. I ordered a Savage A17 Sporter .17WSM a couple of years ago and they started shipping recently. It looks like this rifle will miss two hunting years.

Great to see another tree squirrel thread on LRH. It does my heart good to know that guys who regularly kill big critters beyond 600 Yards would also enjoy ESRH.
I kill hundreds every year, almost year round since our season starts in May and runs to the end of February. Fox Squirrel and Gray Squirrel. I use only Subsonic Hollow Points in 22 LR. My favorite rifles are CZ 452 American and Bergara BMR Steel.
It is simply great rifle practice and yes, I do think it hones my field marksmanship for deer hunting.
My family and I eat every single one. We don't even freeze them. They go into the fridge and are cooked and eaten soon after. My wife has become an expert at cooking squirrels. Lately she bakes them covered in the oven and then we Air Fry them...Ummmm, I'm hungry.
