So a 7500 can be left right or both ports? Kinda confusing the way they have it on thier page "right or left hand dual ports and dasher." And the pic of the 7500 is a right hand bolt with dual ports(like yours). Remember now you talked me up to the 7500 over the 7000 because you felt it was a beeter action for another $30 if I could "stay one for one" and give up the repeater. And my buddy forked me over the additional $30 to have the bolt fluted for $805. And it having that top strap is why I figured you put the lawton rail on there also.

I know we built three rifles before we settled, Im hoping you answered this off the top of your head ....cuz if not I am really confused!

I know we have it right on paper! so no worries, if the 7500 has different options let me know and we'll figure it out.

Thats perfect, Seems Lawton doesnt show you can get the 7500 that way....I didnt know you could get it that way...I assumed all 7500's were daul port ....like your 7AM....Right and Right is fine with me.......

THATS WHY I PAID YOU THE BIG BUCKS!.....

I told you, you da man /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The daul port looks awesome but the problem you brought up about removing the bolt to eject a live round...GOT MY ATTTENTION....because I then looked em up again and on thier site shows a 3.45 ejection port...I measured TIM TX dummy rounds he sent 3.705....thats where I got confused about your ejection problems.

I know you would have told me if there was going to be a problem...and you sure as hell woulnt have recomended it!!!

Enough said build it buddy!!!

All I can say is that the 270 AM shots long and straight. It sure does seem to get to 1k a lot faster than the 338 RUM gets to 500 or 600.

Smashes the rocks pretty well also.

Nothin' else to report...... Been makin bunches of chips or shards or whatever they're called. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Been shooting a bit.

About 4 moa drop from 300 meters to 500 meters.

About 15 MOA drop from 500 meters to 1068 yards.

Looks like I'm gonna have to get exbal. This is the first rifle I've ever had that shoots well enough to notice the difference in environmental conditions.

QUESTION: What kind of velocities are you getting in the 270 AM with 195 WCs loaded to where extraction is just a 'bit' tight? Bullet about 20 thou jump.

I've reduce the powder from 93gr of 869 in 25* temps to 91.5gr in 75* temps and maintain about 3050 at both temps. It's only just a schosh hot.

I'm getting an avg of 3194 FPS with the 195 gr in front of 96.5 WC 872. This is at 40*. b to O of 3.021". Clean barrel, this will shoot right at 2" groups at 300 yds. This is the best I've done with it, probably me.
Still having a problem getting a measurement to the lands. Got my tap to modify a case for the Stoney point OAL gage. Have a long tapered lead in my barrel, .250"-.300" and a very short throat at .080 and can not get a consistant measurement. Hate seating these beautiful bullets so deep, with the throat so short I can't even max out the magazine.
Do you have a similiar chamber demenisions and the same problem

Guess I gotta get some 872

Yeah, me too. I've been whining to Kirby about that. He says if it ain't broke don't fix it. Jeez, thats no fun but, darn sure true. I'm a function over looks kind of guy but that bullet seated to the base of the neck just flat looks mean. When someone wants to see what I'm shootin' I just show them a loaded cartridge along with a single bullet. It gets the same affect /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What action and stock is on yours. Are you getting any stickiness at all with that load. I have to "click" the bolt with a thump of the palm of my hand then just pull hard to get the bolt back. The case expansion seems to be just ahead of the web.

I've got Texas Tim's 270 AM.
With WC 872, I started at 95 gr and went up in 1gr increments thinking I would end up around 100 grs. Got hot at 98 grs (3252 fps), 97grs showing no gains over 96.5. Ejection is smooth--again this is at 40*.

Finally got the stock on the 270 AM up to snuff with the rest of the rifle.

The stock is a Randa Enterprises LRH Thumbhole specifically designed for a 'hide' setup. It took a while to design then fabricate. The final finish was debatable right up to the end. But seeing as how Memorial Day was looming, I chose appropriate camo colors /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Base coat is Pearled White with candies on the ends. It was fun to do. ( I can hardly wait to see what my next bright color scheme will be)

I also lengthened the forend a couple of inches but it doesn't show up well in this pic.

I went with mammoth palm swells on both sides to allow comfortable shooting from either side. The big girl feels like more of a hand full than she really is and the design works very well for prone shooting and consistent shoulder pressure.
