Actual difference between 6.5 creedmoor and 6.5x55 with RELOADS??

My 6.5 creed with a 26 inch barrel will push 140 hybrid bergers to 3077 avg with slight bolt lift. Half a grain down no pressure signs at 3045 avg. All with RL 26 and I have done similar numbers in my buddies. Not sure why 2700 is pushing it for your creed.
I should add I wouldn't buy/build a creed for velocity. I would buy a bigger cartridge if you want to be over 3000 easily.
lol almost 3100 with a 140 Berger. That's about as fast as a 6.5x284 can drive them. Not buying it for a minute. A Swede has more capacity than the Creedmoor and it would be maxed out to try and hit those numbers.

Two shooters on this forum with me when I took these numbers. I will make a video if it will make you happy lol. There is a whole thread on Rl-26 in a Creed. Many with similar numbers. I called BS myself but rather than call someone out I tested it out.
Savage action, choate stock, 26 inch McGowan barrel. I was also wrong the 3077 wasn't my max it was my best .5 grain less than this maxed out load. Ran out of case room.

I use RL26 and I don't see gains like that in any of the cartridges I use it in. You must have one super fast barrel to be able to run 3090. That or you are extremely stupid and are gonna blow your self up. That's as fast or faster than many guys can run 6.5-284s and 6.5-06s which have way more capacity. Nothing personal on the stupid comment. I would tread lightly with that rifle. They were designed to shoot 2700-2800 with 140s. You gotta be running so very high pressure. I'm still very skeptical.

No worries I thought the same when I read the thread so I worked up carefully. I also didn't leave it there. I found the best accuracy at high velocity at 3025. The very best grouping was at 2925. All shot at 8000 feet and 22 degree F.
I didn't build my 6.5 to go that fast I built it for volume shooting and playing with load combos. So max velocity wasn't ever my plan. I just had to know if it was possible. So I tried. I for sure could leave it at 2925 and be very comfortable even in higher temps.
All that said I wouldn't buy a Creed and expect those numbers. I would expect the top accuracy node at 2800-2900 with the right powder and Hornady brass.

Been my experience with a 26in barrel you can expect a 140 to shoot nicely around 2850-2885 depending on the powder.

Yeah I'm thinking you wouldn't be able to top 3000 or be very hard pressed to here at 600feet above sea level

I'm sitting at 900ft. Not too far off
Ok. Well lotta guys here running 6.5-284s can hardly crack 3075-3100 without seeing pressure with 26 inch barrels. That's why I'm a skeptic. But maybe the Creedmoor has a lil more magic than the 284 case. Good luck with your Creedmoor. I was gonna build a 25creed to go along with my 25-284. But think I'll do a 25-47 just on principle

I am about to do load development on a 6.5x284. I will use RL26 and see when I find pressure. The barrel is factory and only 22 inches so it won't be a great comparison. Enjoy the 25x47. I am thinking 25sst will fill my need in the quarter caliber class.
