As title says, I'm looking for action recommendations. I'm wanting to build a 6.5x285 to shoot the Berger 156's. I already have brass, bullets, powder, primers and dies.
I have a Defiance Devient on a 6CM and like it a lot so thinking another Defiance, maybe an AnTi or AnTI-X but I can't find any in stock anywhere (LA standard bolt face).
Any other recommendations?
I want to find something not terribly heavy to build on.

I have very little experience (only one type) on custom actions. We got two Anti Mags and nitride coated bolt and action because it was cheaper than buying a rifle/action and having the action modified to the same level. Just playing around with them before sending to smith I thought they were smooth and tight. We bought direct from Defiance, and my smith said he could have saved us a little. (yes I was ignorant) Weight exactly 22oz, and I would suggest go long action.

The Defiance is an excellent choice, and you already know the quality. Anti-X is a great choice. I have one on order in LA for my next build. Have you checked with @North Idaho Hunter (site sponsor)? He's a very nice guy; deal with confidence. Good luck!

I inquired on his action thread and he said something about not getting any LA standard bolt face action due to lack of interest or something like that. I'd have to go look to double check. But I didn't however ask him if I could order one, just if he has one of those coming.

He had to special order mine, and yes, there is a delivery backlog. So, if you are in hurry, it might work for you. I am in no hurry and worth the wait for me.

Bighorn Origin. R700 footprint, Pre-fits readily available, swappable bolt heads and a LA can be had for $975-ish new Don't think you can get a better action for the price and features. Personally I don't think the small difference in weight going to a TI justifies the substantial increase in price. If you ever decide to go to a magnum, itll Cost you about $130 for the Bolt head. You can swap your bolt head and barrel yourself in a bout 15min time.

Built my daughter her first rifle on one. She has a 6.5CM, 6.5PRC and 224 Valk barrel for it and all the bolt heads from 223-Mag.

I'm currently building a light weight Hunter in a 308 on one as well.
