223 Bolt Action Rifle Recommendations.

I took the rifle out today for the first time. I changed the trigger to a TT primary, nothing else was done to it. To say I'm impressed with the rifle is an understatement. I shot 3/4 inch groups with Hornady ELD M 73 gr, leaving the muzzle at 2610. This is what I was hoping for, a truck gun, accurate with factory ammo so I don't have to reload for one more cartridge with all the upfront cost.
It's not even broken in yet, nice!

You might reconsider reloading for it. Here's a group I shot with my Remarms ADL 700 7mm RM. It's in a KRG stock.

I know! I will eventually, I'd like to shoot the heavier Sierras TMKs and the Bergers. I'll start picking up components slowly as I have zero components for it, from primers, powders to good brass. I've never reloaded anything SRP, and that small of a case 🤣

.223 rem is one of the easiest rounds to load for. And components for it are pretty plentiful right now. Grab some 75 ELDM's, TAC, H4895 and some FED 205's and have at it. There's a ton of other good powders for it.

Thanks!! Any brass you recommendation besides Lapua that I can't find anywhere?

I've made some really accurate loads with Federal brass. But it stretches so fast and easy I'd try some Winchester brass. But if you want to hold out for some premium brass that's understandable. Honestly I'd just get the best brass you can find and start loading for it.

Shot another 20 rounds, same factory ammo, Hornady ELDM 73 gr, rifle continues to perform.

I'll also voted Tikka till the day I die. My T3 CTR scout is a tac driver with 60 gr VMAX and Benchmark. Don't have pics of the targets on this phone and can't remember the powder charge off hand but it's a great little rifle. This one isn't threaded but new ones are.

Rifle continues to do well, these groups are representative of what I've been getting as I try different factory ammo. Feeding is not particularly smooth, and the action is still on the gritty side.

A friend gave me a bottle of Militec over twenty years ago and I tried it on my Remington PSS. It really helped with smoothing out my action.

Many times a good cleaning and lubing of the bolt rails, lug area, and cocking cam really helps smooth things out.
