Looking for pros and cons. Obviously there a big difference in price. I'm building a 6.5CM and want to build a gun that uses ACIS mags. Looking at MTD and others.

You speak of competition matches, then comes the question, how many rounds you need to hunt big game? I say 1 round in good conditions, 2 rounds if needed to hasten the pace of the animal's death, and 3 if you are shooting distances beyond your ability.Metal AICS mags will give you longer OAL if needed. You can buy them without the binder plate to get even longer but that also depends on the rifle being used as some factory rifles will need the feed ramp filed down to get them to be able to feed without the bullet tips catching. I still have my original AI AICS mags I bought in early 2004 when I switched to DBM for matches. They still run great. MDT also work well. I have them in 6mm ARC and .308/6.5 also. You can save a good amount on their Black Friday sale.
Poly mags will work fine also. I use the poly MDT mags in my .223.
Never had to make any adjustments to mags or mag catch in over 20 years of using AICS mags in my match rifles. Have used DBM, chassis and stocks with mini chassis. All fed reliably. Don't pick that scab unless you really see a need for it.

Like firefighters saying they come to help, but only save the foundation? That would be up to the person hunting. I am just trying to help him with mag choice.

Heck yeah! If it's gonna burn, let it burn! Insurance pay out way easier!Don't call them then if you house is on fire.
His question is about equipment and not hunting so my answers should be helpful and on point for him.

So you think he's using a 6.5PRC for PRS and posting in a hunting forum about competition?
