This is one of the most INSANE 308 Win videos I have seen. Its absolutely worth the watch but also farking nuts. They pushed Berger 215s to well over 300wm velocities in 308 Win. I kept expecting an earth shattering kaboom

Nice ad for that brass and Bat actions. It is good to have a margin for error on over pressure loads. But I think this kind of video is going to get someone's gun blown up.
They used Alpha brass.

They claim 300WM velocities, but 200fps below what I shoot the same bullet.

It is an eye opener for that 308 WIN Alpha brass though.

A lot of brass will far exceed the SAAMI standards, and many arms companies once used a 50% over pressure (some even more) as a proof load. Remember, this is how a couple of magnum handgun rounds first came about, especially the heavy loaded 44 Special in strong revolvers and became the 44 Magnum.

I can push my truck and SUV to 8,000 rpms, but why? Especially why repeatedly when it is just shortening the life span that much quicker.

What are you hunting with?

A quality chronograph is the only "fact" when working up loads. If velocities are low and excess pressure is noted, something else is going on.
Huh, I reloaded for a long time and never owned a chronograph, while I agree it's a great tool there's ways around it

There are, but they would be inferior. Knowing the velocity instead of assuming is a breakthrough for handloaders.

The look on people faces tends to be uniform when they learn their pet load is equal to the next cartridge lower down in the reloading books and not what the book said. Never seen an exception.
