ABLR’s won’t shoot

That's exactly my experience. Think I had it dialed then group would go from 0.5-.75 groups to 1.25-1.5" the next day. I've only used h1000 and retumbo.
Have you checked the base to ogive consistency on these. It's been some time, but was thinking maybe some variations there that could play into accuracy issues. Could be wrong too. Not a claim, just curious if any of you have input.

Maybe poor timing posting this on my end, my notes are boxed up as I'm moving my reloading bench to a new room in my shop to be able to shoot from the bench. But I use a LE Wilson trimmer for consistent brass length then debur inside and out by hand, I do wonder about consistency with the le Wilson chamfer/debur tool. I only had Winchester brass unfortunately up until recently I got in on some ADG 6.8 brass on a limited run. I've tossed quite a few of the Winchester brass and basically boiled down 150 into 100ish of the most consistent. I find case length doesn't grow much after firings 1-3 at least. I do full length resize every time. I will have to try running them long, I do wish the browning had a slightly bigger mag length for this.

After all the time and components it took me to figure out my ABLR issues I had moved on. Long story short I did get them to shoot as well as Nosler claims they can.
I recently bought a 6.5creedmore Weatherby Vanguard synthetic 24" barrel 1:8 twist. I wanted to load Partitions in it but could not find any. I couldnt find any ABLR's either. I could find the plain old Accubonds ( AB ) in 140gr. I got a load from the Nosler manual and loaded up 20 at the recommended OAL. Out of the the box the rifle produced 4 five shot groups of 1" a 100 meters. The next 100 I loaded were at the maximum length that would fit the internal magazine and still feed reliably. I have a fixture for my trailer hitch receiver that allows me to mount a single state press with a seating die with a micrometer adjustment. So I can make bullet depth adjustments at the range. First 5 shot group was 1.4". I shot 20 5 shot groups that day finding the seating depth that my rifle loved. It will shoot the AB's all day into a 1/4 MOA target given the time to cool off. Granted the load is not lightning fast but it got me 3 whitetails this season from ranges of 80yd, 140yd, and 318yds. All of them went down in a heap with only a few flickers of the tail. One bullet was a pass through and that deer was walking right at me, into center of chest and out the rear end. I like the partitions because I have pass throughs 95% of the time. And I'd like more velocity ( I'm getting 2640fps ) but the way this Accubond performed on deersize game speaks for itself. Didn't recover any bullets though so I can't say how they expanded or whatever but they performed perfectly
.

A friend gave me two boxes of Hornady Precision Hunter rounds with the 143gr ELDx. My first 3 shots at 200yds gave me a group of slightly larger than a dime. He shot 4 deer this season all DRT. They cost like $40 per box. So I'm gonna look for several boxes of those from the same lot number.
.

I've had very good success with them out of my 270 Browning A-bolt in 150gr. and plan to use them in my new Seekins 7PRC. I shot my last elk a couple of months back at 540 yards. Did not get full penetration as the bullet lodged in the opposite hide, which is not unreasonable at that distance from a 270. My groups are about 2" at 200 yards, which is acceptable for me. I'm using IMR 4831.

Relatively new to reloading but I'm curious how other have faired with accubond long range bullets? I just can't get them to shoot consistently in both my 6.8 western (165 gr) and 7 mag (168 gr). After running powder charger ladders and seating depths I'm about to toss them. I've had great luck with Berger EOL's and eld-x. Anyone having similar results?

PM me when you're account can receive them.

I have had no issues with regular 180gr (300WM) AB's- like Balldar said also. Sierra tipped MK's or non-tipped also are a go to for me. Stick with what works for your barrel. I have experimented with dozens of different pills and find when a barrel likes something-stay with it. Additionally, I have had great results from Berger VLD's, ELD for my 6mm 7.5 twist variations in the 95-108gr.

Again-focus on loads the barrel likes-groups don't lie. I have been guilty of trying to force loads because of new projectiles or powders with disappointing results. Then the buyer's remorse sets in. I'm betting I am not the only one who has experienced this.

Good luck on your journey of accuracy! Hope our experience will contribute to your success!

I only did a few at the time for BTO seating measurements. A better set of calipers is next on the list. Using an Hornady one currently with their comparator set. Interestingly I've measured and weighed quite a few eld-x's and they are pretty inconsistent but shoot great at almost every charge.

How about some load info you used. Just saying they don't shoot with very little info makes it hard to diagnose..

I have had good performance with the ABLRs and the Hammer bullets. I did have to do some ladder loads to figure out what the rifle liked, but again never any issues. I suspect that some rifles prefer different bullets??

.050-.125. I agree with others they can be hard to get to shoot accurately. Make sure you have the right Hammer for your twist rate in the 6.8.
I have a 270 WSM with a custom barrel 1/8 twist and Hammers will shoot. .343 for the last group of 5.
If you want 2 holes then forget the ABLR they are similar to the Bergers. They are made from very soft lead to expand down to 1300 fps and my experience is that they blow up at shots under 300 yds. We shot a muley at 375 yds and the ABLR did not pas through.
If it passes through at 375 yards then it's not a hunting projectile, all that energy exiting the game? Just saying

The 142 ABLR did well in my 6.5 Sherman Max. This pic was 3 shots at 650 yds with minimal development. Possible that flier could have been pulled in a little further with a slight seating adjustment, but past experience made me shy to commit to them. Ended up doing the 156 Berger at a relaxed 3,000 fps for a very stable load. Failed to record details regarding jump, etc with the ABLR's.
Edit: I believe Nosler has the BC listed as 0.320. Punched in 0.315 as per Strelock, and was spot on, obviously.

I Shoot 210 ABLR in two 300 RUMs Sendaro barrel profile...they shoot very good.

I recall reading, when they first came out that some ABLR where less sensitive to jump. I think in the 30 cal the 195 where more sensitive but I never tested them.

Good luck
Mike, where have you been since 2019 ...? My 300 RUM didn't like the 210 much. Tried a few powders. It liked 215 Berger and V570 in new Bartlien 5 R barrel. Factory barrel with 180 TSX or TTSX or 185 Berger VLD was awesome.
