Got an Alpha Crony with a .243 hole front to back that still works. just have a little trouble believing my 22 LR is shooting 3299 FPS.

30 nosler with 190 ablr at 10 feet. When I got it used it had a hole in the front right at the top just through the metal. After years of use I finished it off. First shot at the range that day-i forgot to look through the barrel to make sure I would clear the unit.

You might want to think about a barrel-mounted MagnetoSpeed? Yeah yeah yeah, there might be a point of impact issue, bit the convenience factor is fantastic. Yes, with the four inch drop between the sight and the barrel, I also shot a chronograph.

Been there done that though I smoked mine with a 1 1/4 oz slug I reload @1500 fps. Same way, lowered front rest for different rifle and forgot to raise it for my slug gun.

Wish I could have chronographed my chronograph going down range being hit with that slug.!! Shattered beyond recognition. Impressive is weak description.

I called Pro Chrono and I told them I struck the chronograph, she said send it in for repair. Explained what happened. She never stopped laughing up to hanging up but I did get new one at nice price.

I'm laughing at how many people have shot their chronograph ! I put a 243 round right through my Prochrono . All the years using it with larger calibers and never hit it. First shot with a 243 after shooting a 300 RUM. Bam ! Forgot to adjust. I got a magneto speed after that. Sorry for your loss

I have come to the conclusion that there are shooters who have shot chronographs and those who will.

I might shoot someone else's, but don't see buying one for myself. However, I do run my Magnetospeed pretty close to the bore!
