A Dedicated LRH Rifle for my Kids

This is what I made for my kids to start shooting after a Ruger 10/22. It's their first "real" hunting rifle a Handi-Rifle 300 AAC shooting 110 grain VMAX zeroed at 100 yds with a VX2. My dad cut the stock and put a grind fit pad and called it their "elephant gun" 🤣 this little thing had taken a lot of "firsts" between my sons and family friends.

Thats great!!! Excellent first "real" gun.

I have a 6.8 SPC II that I built with generic off the shelf parts and its 6.2lbs. 18" Stainless Barrel with mid-length adjustable gas block and Midwest Light weight profile handguard. Standard AR-15 Mil-Spec Lower. Six position butt stock. Very little recoil. I have a 1x6x24 Vortex optic for it. Not for extremely long distances but good enough out to 300-400 yds. Something like this should work well for kids.

I have been in your shoes for years! It's so hard finding a great rifle setup for growing kids. Look at MDT they have a nice chassis that you can put an adjustable buttstock on. I like the compact tikkas, they are not adjustable on the go but it is a nice short LOP
