I highly respect Butter Beans' post and vowed I might try his process out one of these days. You should definitely look up his pst post on the subject. Processes change with time.
Coincidentally, I crimped for the first time ever yesterday. The load was shooting 2-1/2" groups at 300 yards. A simple crimp changed it to 7/8" at 300 yards.

I think crimping success will depend on the pill you're pushing
I started crimping when I switched over to hammer bullets three years ago and later expanded to other bullet manufacturer's. I found crimping reduced group sizes, often quite considerably, in in the vast majority of cases and and have not had a single case where crimping has increased group size.
