Remington 78 action trued, 1 in 9 twist 28" 5R bartlein barrel before the brake, Lil bastard muzzle brake, GRS decima hunter adjustable stock, ptg bottom metal obendorf style, timney calvin elite 2 stage trigger set at 8 oz., 20 moa weaver rail vortex viper pst 6.5x20x50, sako style extractor, tactical bolt knob built from my gunsmith, blue titanium cerakote...
Nice looking rig. Is that a Remington 783?

I've seen a lot of good reports on the new action so hopefully you'll have many years of success with it.

Congrats on a very fine build! You have a fine scope for it and I hope you will use fine mounts and properly mount it.
Now if you really want to kick it up a notch; get rid of the brake and put a suppressor on it! :D

nice looking rig, how's that stock feel, looks cool. What does the stock cost? how'd you choose the action?

That stock is awesome the hand grip has a 6° cant to it and is offset from center...their about 800 bucks...and I have a remington sportsman 78 action in 3006 it's always been buttery smooth and when I came across one already trued I couldn't pass it up

Thought I would share my success. Gun is a custom savage lh, 26" shilen ss match, Holland break, Bushnell 6500 scope, 82.0 grns h-1000, pushing 154 Hornady interbonds @ 3260, in nosler cases weighed and sorted. This is my rig for Colorado elk next week. Shoots cloverleaf @100. Best "longer" range group was 2 touching @ 525yds. Both were cold bore shots in prep for hunting situations. BTW that load is real close to max in my gun don't try this at home

I envy you my friend. I've been out of interbonds for 2 years and while they keep telling me they are planning to do a run of them "soon" I have yet to see them hit the shelves.

Of all the bullets I've ever shot at game it's the one bullet which has never let me down in any way, shape, manner or form. As long as I do my part I know exactly what I"ll find when I pull the trigger every time with them.

WildRose, while I have not shot the interbond bullets, I have shot with great success the Swift Scirroco. Yes, it's expensive and I don't waste them on paper targets! But when I pull the trigger on a deer, it's DRT! I am amazed at how the 150 grainer pole axes a deer. I have, honest, watched one do a back flip. None have ever walked a step. They are VERY accurate in my STW, too.

The Sirocco is one of the least temperamental and best shooting bullets I've ever fired.

Unfortunately though I've had them do some really weird things upon high velocity impacts with them over expanding to an extreme level at which time they tend to flip and go off at near right angles to what should be the track of the bullet.

For 300yds and beyond though they fly straight, hit hard and give very predictable expansion and wound tracts.

Never had similar issues or any issues really with the interbond.

WildRose, I haven't shot a deer past 280, so I can't say what mine would do beyond that. Like you, I do have great confidence in them. Maybe I should be looking into the Interbonds!
BTW, I had a dear friend, God rest his soul, who swore by heavy bullets in his 7 S&H mag. But he shot a Breneky(sic) H mantle bullet. I wonder if Hornady looked at those German bullets when they developed their Interbonds? I kinda think those were in existence even before Nosler made his partitioned bullets, too. I haven't seem those bullets since Bill was using them, probably 35 or more years ago.

Brenneke was a genius and innovator for sure. He invented the shotgun slug and the first reliable jacketed bullets as well as developing some of the most potent and reliable big game rounds the world had ever seen before or during his era.

The company still exists producing bullets and ammunition for shotguns and the Brenneke rifle calibers.

His designs however cannot compare with the bonded bullets of the modern era or the comparmented bullets like the Nosler Partition. The Partition is probably the most popular American made bullet in Africa.

These older designs however, including the Partition cannot begin to compete with the modern high BC bullets we use today that were all developed in the last half century.

As for the Sirocco, I really love the way they fly and while I've had some problems with overexpansion I've also had them work very well on both deer and big hogs. The handful of failures I've had with them stand out in my mind but they are the exception rather than the rule.

Some of those failures however came at very critical moments for me and very nearly resulted in the loss of once in a lifetime trophies.

As for Brenneke though you ought to spend some time looking him up, he was a truly interesting character and some of his designs were really "out there".

Hornady unfortunately is still showing that production of the Interbond bullets is suspended. I suspect that is due to them betting all their marbles on the ELD-X bullets which they have certainly poured huge resources into.

The ELD-X though seems to be suffering some of the same problems with separation that the Interlock can have particularly on large bodied, heavy animals at short range (sub 300yds) so I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it works for them in the long term. Personally I was really disappointed that they went the cannelure route with them rather than the same bonding process used with the Interbond.

I have a feeling that deciding to go that route is really going to hurt them in the long run and I hope I'm wrong because I have a great deal of respect and appreciation for the whole gang at Hornady.

Nosler really blew it inflating their BC's so bad with the Accubond LR series but at least they had the presence of mind to stick with a very good bonded bullet design bettering it's flight characteristics.

One last bit on the Sirocco. For years I'd call them up once or twice a year voicing that with the growth in LR hunting and shooting many of us who like their bullets generally would really like to see them coming out with some heavy for caliber bullets for the 7mm and .30 cal's in particular so that we could get similar BC's from them that we get with bullets from some of the other manufacturers until the last time I called when they told me that the owner of the company really isn't a fan of LR hunting and as a result they would not even consider doing so.

That really left a sour taste in my mouth.
