The 7MM RM cartridge has very little to improve upon other than a sharper shoulder angle, and only you can determine if your investment in time and money is worth your effort. He has a different goal, but @Mike D Texas did an improved .264 WM (basically the same as the 7MM RM cartridge). How does the current owner load ammo if he doesn't have dies? At least have a source for where to get them. I wouldn't buy a rifle with an oddball chambering unless the dies were included.

I do not know the current owner. A friend of mine has a gun shop and purchased a collection from a widow. Said there was brass for it but not dies that they could locate. The rifle is gorgeous hence the want, if worse came to worse I would rechamber. But if I was able to find dies then it would be a plus
It's headstamped Norma 7 rem mag brass, it's built on a ruger no. 1That's probably why the rifle is for sale.
With once fired brass. What headstamp is on the fireformed brass? What action is it built on?
What I'd like to know is, who had that chamber reamer?

If you like the rifle and are willing to spend an additional cost, you can send it to a die maker for a custom-built die since you have spent brass from the gun. This way, you get the custom die for the "actual" improved cartridge. Good luck!
The 7mm Rem mag is .489-.490 on the shoulder, the 7mm Weatherby is .492. I have a 7mm Rem mag that's blown out to .495 on the shoulder. It's a 40 degree shoulder. In looking at the 7mm Rem mag case, I noticed the shoulder/neck junction was nearly the same as the 308 Norma mag so I ended up lengthening the neck and now use 308 Norma brass in it. I can still use the 7 Rem brass but the necks a little short. I end up with 5-6 grains more powder capacity than a 7 weatherby. C-H Did my dies and it will push a 175gr partition to 3200 fps if I want to lean on it. As is, I'm shooting right at 3145 with a 25" stainless Shilen barrel.
Thanks for the info! I found a couple guys that have dies, so I'll probably grab a set and see how things go as I'm not exactly sure if there many different degree shoulders for a 7 mag improved because I'm not sure what this has. I'll try a set and if not, I'll send in some of the brass and get a set made.
