7mm Rem Mag and Berger 195 Bullets...?

Thank you. I hit lands at 3.56 and am having best accuracy at 3.53. Just bought a pound of RL33 to tryout in it.

Any updates from you gentlemen shooting these 195's through your 7 RM? I worked up a load over the weekend in my stock 9.25 twist 26" Rem barrel. Averaged 2905 fps with 70.5 gr Retumbo and 2865 fps with 74.5 gr RL-33. Slight indication of pressure with Retumbo, but nothing with RL-33. It looks like RL-33 is just inside .5 MOA, and Retumbo was ~1 MOA. Seated .010" off lands and HBN coated.

I was in mid 2800s last fall. Shot black bear, antelope, and mule deer with the 195s with good results. Tried a different bullet this fall and moving back to the 195s next year.

here is some load data i have worked up in my rifle.
Rifle specs,
Stiller Tac300
Brux 1-8 28" 4 groove + break
Manners T4A
Badger CIP length dbm with 300 WM mag boxes (3.775 max aol)
Timney 501t trigger

The rifle is chambered with saami min spec reamer and throated so there is approximatly .300 of bearing surface seated in the case with the 195gr EOL bullets seated .020" off the lands.

After running a very mild load of AR2217 (h1000) for the first 100 rounds i switched to AR2225 (Retumbo) and did a ladder test at 300m with powder charges running from 68gr to 70gr resulting in a reasonably flat group (was a little gusty wind from right to left)
velocity for these was,
68.0 - 2863fps
68.5 - 2895fps
69.0 - 2926fps
69.5 - 2929fps
70.0 - 2958fps
Seeing that the velocity between the 69.0gr and 69.5gr loads was only 3fps different i decided to load some test rounds at 69.2gr and shoot them at 1600m for fun.
final load is,

Sako brass
F215M primer
Berger 195gr EOL
69.2gr AR2225
3.624" OAL

(Warning these loads may not be safe in your gun as they were developed in my rifle with long freebore)

shooting the AR2217 load at around 2800fps required 16.6 mil from my 300m zero to get to 1606m switching to the AR2225 load at 2920fps required only 15.4 mil to be on at 1606m although i only fired 2 shots at the plate the vertical dispersion was only about 1"

Personally I think the 184's would be better .704 vs .755 but I'm sure the velocity gain would make up for the lower B.C

I've heard several say the huge B.C of the 195 is cancelled out by the 180's higher velocity until 1,000+

I really enjoyed this thread. Did you fellas stick with the 195s or drop down to something else? I have a XBolt with a 1:8 twist on order. Im gathering data.

Curious here also. I bought some 195s' because they were one of few things in stock. I figure with a 1:9 and even a 26" barrel, I will not be able to push them fast enough to take advantage of the BC.
