7mm Rem Mag and Berger 195 Bullets...?

They will likely stabilize but you will not get the same BC, you will have to adjust it down due to the extra drag. id guess 5-10%. even at that i think you will still have more energy and less drift at 1000 yards with the 195 over the 180 hybrid, but it wont be as flat obviously. Since a good range with a laser rangefinder is critical at distance anyway i dont worry about flatness.

I shot these 195 bergers yesterday in my 8.5 twist Rock barrel and 7mm Rem Mag. Got up to 69 grains of retumbo and stopped. Thinking I can get to 70 or 71 probably and might try. Anyway, they shoot very well and here are a few data points in a 25" barrel:

67 grains retumbo 2815 fps
68 grains retumbo 2850 fps
69 grains retumbo 2880 fps

Those were averages for 3 shot strings. Pretty excited about them actually and may order an 8 twist barrel to have in reserve.

Yes, I am aware of the stability Mudrunner. Where I hunt I never see shots over about 200 yards, so I'm wanting to try these and get a feel for them before I put a custom barrel on it. Even at 1.3 SG (I'm around 1500' elevation), I believe they will still be stable enough to such a short distance. It's all in the sake of experience and experimentation :) these will be the first Bergers I've ever used, so I want to see for myself just how well they perform

I'm not sure what to say here, but I shot 195 EOL Bergers today from my 280 AI and got 2900 plus or minus 10 fps either way with 61.5 gr of RL-26 CCI 250 primers. 1-9 twist and shockingly accurate at 200 yds.

195, rl 33 getting 2964
195 vit n570 getting 2950

28" proof barrel

Still playing but both loads shoot good

That BC at 2800 is **** close to an Edge or Lapua for wind. Making a 7RM as effective as a 338 is crazy but becoming a reality.

Not sure would have to look, have a Wyatt box, thought was cut for 180 hybrid botail at base of neck. So is is not standard and a 8.22 tw

I'm getting a proof barrel in an 8 twist. If you could look it would be much appreciated. I'm getting it chambered in a 7mm Rem Mag.

This is one of the big reasons that I choose the 7mm RM for my new, long range setup. The Rem 700 LR with 26" heavy barrel is a 9.25 twist, but according to the Hornady twist calculator, it will work with this 195gr bullet above 5,000 feet elevation. My primary range is at 6,200 feet and the public land where I shoot small game or steel's is at 8,000 feet. It will take me a few months, but I will report back, once I start pushing beyond 1k yards.

I'm having good luck with them in my 7mm mag too. I ge 2965 out of a 26 inch 8.75 twist barrel over 74 grains R33,I'm curious on where to start with R 26 and N570? Anybody care to run those on quickload for me with the berger 195 in 7mm rem mag.:):) Thanks.
