Hi, I'm looking to acquire a first gen remington sendero in 7mm rem mag with a 1-9.25 twist.

I'm looking for some real world experience or thoughts on shooting 175gr-180gr bergers with this twist.

I went to Berger's website and it's very marginal with approximate speeds in the 2,800-2,900fps with Retumbo or H1000.

Does anyone have any experience with shooting this range of bullets in this twist?

Thanks for the help!

cb, 1:9.25 wasn't compatible with the ten 175's a friend let me try in my rifle. They shot like someone was bumping my elbow as I pulled the trigger. Did not crono them. However the 168 Berger shoots outstanding in my and several other 7mm Rem with H1000, 1:9.25.

appreciate the reply Dosh, and dangit!

Would you mind sharing your load for H1000 and your speeds with the 168 bergers? (I would drop down my charge weight and work up of course)

In my factory tikka t3 7mm rem with 1:9.5 twist i had no troubles shooting sub moa groups at 500 yards with 180gr bergers. With the 24 inch barrel i was getting 2933 with retumbo. I also shot 168gr bergers at 3073fps with H1000 which shot a 4.1 inch group at 1000 yards with it as well. Shouldnt have any issues with a 1:9.25 twist with the 180s. You should also be able to get 3000 easily with a 26 inch barrel. In my new 7mm rem with a 26inch barrel i am pushing 168s around 3100fps no problem with H1000, Retumbo, & RL26 just letting you know my experience.

Sendero 7RM and a 700 Long Range 7RM both did 0.5 MOA with 180 VLD and around 70 grains on N570 ....work up to find pressure as this gets with a grain or two speed was 2950 to 3000

Tested out to 700 yards and still nice tight groups.

I have a Sendero SF ii with 9.25 twist that using Retumbo and 180 gr. VLD Hunting .05 off lands, running 2992 fps. drop verified to 1000 yds. shoots under .5 MOA groups all day if I do my part.

I ran the 180 Hybrids out of an older Rem 700 7mag with a factory sporter barrel with 9.25 twist and they grouped sub MOA and the ES was under 10fps with H1000 at 2890. My son shot a cow elk last December at 150 yards, and hit her a little far back. Zero blood trail to follow. Without some snow she would have been real difficult to find. We did, but it concerned me enough to start looking at other options in the 7. I love the 215's in my .300 RUM, so I'm not bashing Berger. Just gonna try some other options for elk.

I use a 9 twist 7mm RM and shooting the 180gr Berger with H1000 at 2930 I'm a constant .5 moa or better at all distances out to 450. Hopefully will get to to test further out soon.

168 Berger's Steel was 950 yds. The black dot is 1".
68.7gr. H1000 @ 2895 FPS.
Cci 250 primer
Hornady brass
Seated .001 off lands.

I have had great results in factory 1;9.25" and the 175 Berger Elites @ 2970-3070fps. Loaded for quite a few of them. Just finished one @ 3060fps average with single digit SD. Berger says 1:10" minimum.
Also great results with the 168 HVLD.

I shoot the 175 Elite in my 26" 1:9" .280AI @ 2975fps with outstanding results.

I have a Remington 700 sendero in 7mm rem mag that I have had great success with since 2009. It loves berger 168vlds over h4831sc and 180 hybrids over h4831sc and h1000. Last fall I took it out before deer season and was grouping moa or better out to 925yds on steel. The only work ever done to the rifle was the xmark trigger being lightened and I'm about to put a timney in it. The xmark sucks. But it's a very accurate factory rifle built 10yrs ago. Who knows what their new production stuff is like.

I ran the 168 VLD Bergers for years on elk and due to all the hype moved to the the 180 Berger hybrids. Killed one smaller 6 point with them. He was quartering away at about 60 yards and I shot at the opposite shoulder, through the liver on the near side. He ran straight away from me for about 100 yards, never offering a chance for a good follow up shot. At the end of his run, he did a big Hi-O silver rear up and went over backwards, crashing down the hill. I didn't gut him and saw no damage to any meat on his front end so the bullet never went into the ribs. I think I would have gotten more penetration with the 168s. Not for sure but I wasn't super impressed with the 180 hybrids. My Dad shoots the 215s from his 300 Win and they're awesome.
