I'm new to reloading, but I'm sure the quality of brass used would make a difference, as well as the differences in the amount of grains each brand of brass holds.

I was never able to achieve 3000 fps on any of my 20" 7-08sI've been doing a lot of research on this cartridge, including on this form. Most say the (lack of) velocity gains in the AI version isn't worth it over the standard. With one exception...
I found a website, Jarret Rifles, that says "Most of our 7mm-08 Imp. rifles have a fairly short barrel, usually no longer than 20", yet we get an honest 3050 f.p.s. with a 140 gr. bullet."
Thats about 200 fps faster than the standard 708, which is quite a bit higher than other reports I've read. Most people report less than 100fps in velocity gains with the AI.
But maybe I've mixed up my research....any thoughts?
If I could get 3000+ ft/s with a 708 in a 20" barrel I'll probably do one.
I built a couple 7-08ais that like 162elds. I'll chrono when I get time and post numbers. 25" barrel, Rem 700, etc. Great little cartridge if you want to add a bit of speed and don't mind ff brass.
Very simple solution ,rechamber to .284 Win, you're there, and can go even hotter no problem, if you want to tone it down, just reduce your load. Thos cartrige was designed to give .280 Rem performance in a short action with a .473" bolt face. Handloaders can often approach 7mm Rem Mag performance.

Cutting down and suppressing a rifle is a very common thing to do in nz.there are thousands in those rifles around, mainly in 7-08,284 and 308. But the process has been applied on 223, 243,260 ,7 saum, 7 Wsm and 7 rem mag as well as 270. The name bushpig comes from the author of the nz hunter magazine Greg Duley.
