7mag and 180bergers?

Rl26 and 180 eld is running 3149 out of my rifle with no pressure signs. I've had it up to 3225 but had heavy bolt lift. 31" Brux.

last barrel was a 26" Brux running the 180s at a mild 3050.

RL26 is the magic powder for this case.

IF you can find it, and theres reports of some temp stable issues but I have no first hand knowledge of that that's why when I can get H1000 to work it's a proven temp stable powder which I will take over some FPS.

I get great accuracy and velocity with R26 and 180 Berger's in my 7RM but pressures get very screwy when temps are over 85 or so. Retumbo is about 120 FPS slower but consistent pressure and shoots knots in my rifle

Yep, I was just reading about some R26 testing on Accurate Shooter. -6 to 60 was reasonably stable but things started going sideways at 83 and at 90 they start getting dangerous if you were already working with a warm load.

I would. I used reloder 26 with hbn coated 180's and was able to hit 3050 fps as a max, which happened to be right where a good node was, that was around 70 grains. The next node down was in the 2950 range, still excellent performance, with around 67 grains.

I did a load work up with naked 180's and H1000, Saw max pressure around 2970 fps, with 70 grains. Load workup was like this:

180 VLD
Federal brass
CCI 250
Seated .010" off
H-1000

67 grains - 2838 fps
68 grains - 2880 fps
69 grains - 2953 fps
70 grains - 2969 fps

This was in a SAAMI Remington chamber. Hope this helps.

What twist does you gun have and how long of a barrel.
Thanks

I'm running the 180 VLD's, seated 0.005" off at 3050fps with 69.1gn of VV N570 in my 7mm rem mag. I'm consistently getting 1/2 - 3/4 MOA out to 725 yards.
The barrel is an 8 twist finished at 26".

My barrel is a criterion 8twist and it's 26" long. I guess I'll be working with retumbo for now just found an 8lb keg. I'm going to do a latter test then group it from there to find some flat line spots in velocity. I'm using adg brass fed215m retumbo for now.

Guess I should have updated this thread sooner. Anyways I did find a good load with the retumbo and 180s. I found 10lbs of retumbo, 1000 180s all same lot for a good price. Group on the steel target was at 500 yards, also had first round impact at 700 yards with a cold bore. Cardboard target was at 100 yards.

180 hybrids and Retumbo work magic in my 7 mag and my 28 Nosler. The 28 accounted for 5 deer in the last week between 346 and 793 yds. All deer would have been 1 round per customer but the 793 deer had his head up still so he got an insurance round
