7 PRC & Ramshot Magnum

20" CarbonSix barrel, Tikka action. Here's my load snippet thus far. Ended up using RL26, but I'm out of that now, so once I end up shooting all of these loads, I will have to go to something else, and at this point time it looks like N565.

Try this for pressure

I've got a 26" Bartlein on my 7PRC. 69.5gr of H1000 and a Fed215M with get just over 3,000fps with 175gr-180gr Berger or the 180 ELD-M. Both of the Bergers shoot well. The Hornady 180s just will not shoot in this particular barrel.
I'm running a 24" barrel w/can in this same area 2970 with 175 eldx's. I've been trying Rl26 & H1000. Will probably go with H1000. Oh yeah Hornady brass for now!

Unless you have an inside track on RL26, I would abandon all load development with that powder, I think getting it in the future is going to be next to impossible. Sad, as I really like it.

H1000 68.5, ADG brass, 24" Proof CF, CCI primer with 180 Bergers I'm seeing 2960 fps. I've got slight pressure but I'm getting great groups. Can't get the 175 ELDX to group as well, but the identical rifle with a 22" Proof CF (different powder charge of course) can't group the 180's but loves the 175's. It's about 90 fps slower but one can't argue with the group.

I'm running a 22 inch carbon Oregon Mtn barrel in 7 prc pure precision stock , hornandy brass lrmp's and h1000 with excellent results i just picked up mag pro and 10 lbs of h 1000 so I'll be checking magpro soon. Should probably stay with h 1000 -2982 is good for me

I got up to 2920fps today working up in .5 grain increments to 71.5 grains of h1000, Peterson brass, cci 250. Had all 3 touching at the 71.5 charge also, no signs of pressure but at 99% case fill with the 180 eldm I'd say I'm knocking on the door. That's definitely faster than I expected out of a 20" pipe. Gonna play around with the 71.5 eldm load before I try some 168 vld bergers and 175 eldx.
Im goingbto run some 162 gr eldx with h 1000 and retumbo out of my 22 " proof if I can get 2950 id be happy ,ill share my results soon.

That doesn't sound right. 58.5 gr would get you about 2,500fps and is below the recommended starting point for the PRC.

I have been looking for RL26 for over a year now, nothing available here in Canada. Same with N560 or 570.

With H4831SC (or Staball HD) I get pressure signs well below the the max load. Can't get 175gr. ELD-X over 2875fps with a 22" barrel. Very frustrating.

Agreed! I do have a couple of 8ers of it. But my 6.5cm likes it too for the heavies! Glad I picked up about 12lbs of H1000 that I'll be using in the 7prc. 😁

I am beginning to believe hole heartedly that hornady has heavily over exaggerated their published fps for the 7 PRC. I have just over 150 rnds through mine and it is consistently 100-150 fps lower then published velocities. My buddy's isn't much better averaging 80-120 gps lower. Both with 24" tubes. They both shoot MOA or better but it's still disappointing reading those chrono numbers. Neither have reloaded for them yet, so maybe that will yield better results. Or maybe I'll just throw it in the back of the safe a pull out the ol 28. More of an over bore whore anyway. lol
I would agree on the Hornady Load Data for the PRC cartridges. However, to be fair I don't own a 300 PRC or 7 PRC. I have two 6.5 PRC's, both with 24" barrels and I can tell you even running on the hot side—I cannot reach Hornady published velocity data. However, Hornady's data for 6.5 PRC was with a 26" barrel and I am shooting 24" barrels. In my 25-06 with 24" barrel, I can match and beat their published data (hot side) so it could be that Hornady is using longer barrels for their test loads than most of us actually use.
Thanks

Give VV N565 a try in lieu of RL 26. I've been looking for RL 26 for almost 3 years and there is none to be found. I heard from a pretty good source that Hornady bought (and has 1st dibs) up all the RL 26. I've gotten great results with VV N565 in 6.5 PRC and I believe it to be the closest thing out there to RL 26, and it's great powder and Midway has it right now as do a couple of other suppliers.
