7 PRC & Ramshot Magnum

Out of the h1k, n565 and tumbo what are you finding is the go to and why? You claim they are all amazing in speeds but what do think is amazing? Surely they aren't all the same as far as speeds and accuracy?
H1000 has been the best in terms of speed and accuracy. I have some videos I am having difficulty sharing due to file extension incompatibility.

I hit the range before work again this morning. Shot Grand at 69.2, 69.4 and 69.6. Details are the same as dictated on my target picture from yesterday. ES went down from yesterday. The 69.2 ES looks pretty promising. Groups were not great and trended with the ES.

It looks like I will get within single digits of my RL26 velocity, but we shall see about accuracy.

I think I'm going to shoot these same loads with standard LR primers next.

What bullet were you shooting and how long is your barrel? I am shot Ramshot Grand all the way up to 70 grains, 175 EH, and Fed 215M. My load averaged 2897 fps. My barrel is 22" and I run suppressed. I was hoping for 2960-2980. However, accuracy was good and no pressure signs.

18" and suppressed. I think I was next to you at Deetz on Tuesday, but I didn't realize it until I got home and started to post. I noticed your profile picture and thought "didn't I just see that picture an hour or two ago?".

What brass are you using? My rifle, with 180ELDMs, isn't going to make it to 70gr. Not with CCI250s and ADG brass, anyway.

I felt like I was pushing it at 69.6

Also, I might be back after work and after it closes to the public today, to test the standard primer loads.

Speed is the only downfall of H4831SC, but it's an amazing accurate and extremely temp stable. I'm having a similar issue with Ramshot Magnum. It gives me great accuracy, but the speeds are 120-170 fps slower than published velocities. H1000, N565, and Retumbo have been amazing in terms of speed within my 6.5 PRC, 7 PRC, and 300 PRC.
Can you give us a look at your recipes for 4831sc and h1000. I'm pushing pills with re26 currently, sitting with 7.5 pounds. But my left should has issues now and I'm looking at options. Have a bunch of the afore mentioned powders

I think Hodgdon's posted data for Ramshot Grand is exaggerated. I never got close to the published speeds. After reviewing one of Hodgdon's recent reloading manuals, I see that I am not the only one getting low speeds with Grand. The author got 2852 fps with a 168-grain bullet and 69-grain charge. I can do better than that with the highly temperature stable H4831SC.

I got speeds exactly as what the Hodgdon website stated for it and using a 170 Gr bullet. I'm using a 24" barrel and the guy in the magazine was using a 22" barrel. That's around 50 fps lost right there in barrel difference. If his barrel is a little slower then it can more than make up that difference. Hogdgon was using a 24" barrel for their testing as well.

I am also running a 22" barrel and accounting for 50 fps difference. Based on the numbers posted in that article he is running 100 fps slower than he should. I would think he would be at 2950, not 2850. Therefore, I should have hit close to 2980, but I got the following while running my SilencerCo Hybrid 46 suppressor.
Berger 175 Elite Hunter
ADG brass
Fed 215M
Grand 68.4-70.0 (.4 grain increments)
COL 3.30"

68.4 grains - 2826 fps SD 3.0, ES 5.9, 1/2" group
68.8 grains - 2829 fps SD 10.1, ES 20.2, 1" group
69.2 grains - 2827 fps SD 13.9, ES 27.8, 1" group
69.6 grains - 2876 fps SD 7.0, ES 14.0, 1" group
70.0 grains - 2897 fps SD 11.1, ES 22.3, 1" group

I would think I would have been between 2950-2980. I'll trying again on the 4th of July. Currently, I'm not impressed.

Well
, maybe try running the speeds without the suppressor, since Hodgdon wasn't using one when they developed the load. We don't have them up here but i have heard of them impacting velocity from others on here.

I normally pick up 15-20 fps with my suppressor, so I know that's not the issue. I'll play with some other bullets and seating depths. I have H1000 and H4831sc for temp stability. It's all good. A couple of months ago, I developed a 175 ABLR load with 78.8 grains of LRT and CCI 34 primers with runs around 3010 fps.
