8x68 has a case head diameter that is in between standard and Magnum. Requires special bolt head. However from what I've read, the 68mm Schuler is tough as nails, improving it with minimal taper and 30-35° neck brings capacity up to 93ish grains. Dave Tooley has created the 300 & 7mm "Boo-boo" cartridges off this case and altered principles.

Has anyone done Research Fireforming the 8x68 Brass for the 7-LRM? It seems Elkaholic has done well making his .338-375 SI with RWS Brass. Since the LRM needs a longer neck this Brass Should be a Miracle. Only I guess it just reverts back to a 7-.375 Ruger using this Longer Brass & keeps the original Shoulder Height and Width. Oh Wait do I get to re-name it or Christen it? I Dub thee...7-MOE! HA! What too soon.....??

Is anybody happy with their 7lrm? I love the idea of the cartridge. Any updates on brass? Is it still bad? I like how it squeezed slightly higher velocity than the 7 rem mag without jumping an excessive amount of powder into the case. Thanks!

When you compare good Nosler 7RM brass life to the Hornady 7LRM brass life, that very-slight real world velocity advantage seems trite. Personally, I'd just build a good 26" 1:8 twist 7mm RemMag, and call it a day. With mine, a stiff charge of 7828 SSC in Nosler brass with 168 VLD's, I'm getting 3,115 FPS MV.

The brass was issue because I could only get a couple of firings before the primer pockets were too loose...not good if your a reloader and expensive too.

As stated earlier the 300-PRC has hopes to bring new life to the LRM in the form of Better Quality Brass choices if they ever materialize. Even if the 300 is dimensionally taller and has a wider shoulder. IMO a 68s Version of the LRM is needed with a 35-40* Shoulder- Tooley & others have these. It's probably just easier to buy High Quality 7 Rem Mag Brass, machine off the Belt. (7x64 Brenneke) How many ways to Skin a Cat?
