7-300 Norma Mag Improved

Did some more N570 testing this morning.

91gr.

Shot it at 600 yards. I haven't zeroed with this combo or anything, and didn't hold for wind. Just wanting to see how it shoots.

But now here's the caveat.

This is the throat area after 101 rounds of H1000

And this is the throat now, after just 22 rounds of N570

So N570 is pretty brutal.

May still load of 50 of them with N570 for
Hunting season since I have a new barrel
for next year already. Or just stick to H1000

How many shot strings of n570?
That was 2 foulers. And four 5 shot strings,
the 5 shots were each shot over the course of 8 minutes, not back to back to back. With full cooling in between.

Have you tried 568?
Seems like it might be a compromise of the 2, and you definitely have the capacity.
I haven't tried 568, just simply because H1000 shoots so good. So I'm going to give up speed, might as well just stick with H1000. I'm sure 568 would be a great option in this cartridge though! But I'm not sure how easy it is on the throats compared to 570.

I know 560 burns hotter than the sun and is super hard on throats also.

I'm on board with you concerning H1000.
I keep 3x as much of it as any other.
568 is cooler burning compared to 60 and 70, according to the charts guys have posted here.
I've got a 7 Mega under construction that's going to get a try with both.

Looks the same to me! 😂 😜

Is the 570 even harder being a .284 or would it be the same with a .308 caliber bullet?

570 is harder because it's so overbore. A 300 norma with N570 doesn't have near the throat damage as this 7-300 with the same amount of firings. But maybe a 7PRC with N570 would last longer than a 300 Norma with N570. If that makes sense lol

N570 burns a barrel about 40% faster than H1000 in a .338 Edge but gives ~150 fps more speed.

Nice shooting ! Do those aoudad taste any good ?

Yeah, it doesn't matter what shot spacing, shot string length, time between shot strings ect. It is WAY more erosive than H1000.

I killed an aoudad a few years ago and it wasn't great.

But the ones from this trip were actually pretty good! Just ate the backstraps, but they were excellent.

I got three 26" Proof carbon blanks, a Fuzion TI action, and AG composite stock for mine. I'm going to get all three barrels cut at the same time, because I plan on running this thing hard on N570 pushing 195 Bergers.
That's really the way to do it IMO. It's a badass cartridge, and if you want to commit to it, just get a few barrels cut. I'm still toying with barrel contours and lengths, or I would 100% do the same thing.

Testing out a 24" Rem Varmint contour next. But I think I'm going to stick with 24" since I still get plenty of speed. Shorten up the package for a little easy pack ability.
