Strangely enough they aren't. Remington was bought out but the firearms division was siimply renamed and is still run under the same ownership as prior to the banrkuptcy.

Vista actually owns the rest of it including their ammo manufacturing facilities.

Vista now owns the name Remington but "remington" is still making Remingtons in the same factory, same management and employees but now has to pay a licensing fee to Vista.

The 6mm Rem was a great idea killed off (like so many others) by idiots at Remington's Marketing Department and their engineers that had no concept of faster barrel twist rates along with of course poorer available quality steel of the day.

I agree, they thought it was a varmint cartridge in the .244 Rem which I believe came off of Fred Huntingtons .243 Rock Chucker which was as the name implied a varmint cartridge. Someone at Remington just couldn't put two and two together as a big game cartridge and Winchester beat them to the punch with the .243 Win.

Because it isn't the fastest doesn't mean it's dead. Its fast enough with good manufacture support and marketing. It's far from dead.

I'm on my third 6cm barrel and will continue with it, also have a .22 cm rifle. I was able to buy factory 6cm Hornady's throughout the Rona. I was thinking there were more factory rifles than ever in this round. I quit loading for .22 cm to conserve materials, but that is a very interesting round.
I don't think I will ever be without a 6cm. I started loading for it when it was a wildcat, my main hunting rifle has a 16.5" Proof barrel, with a suppressor it is easy in and out the window of truck and blind. I have shot hogs at 400 yds, haven''t had anything not die from both Berger and ELD-X's.

I really think it's just now getting popular. I honestly think it will be probably the hottest 6mm cartridge. I like it so much I have 2 now. Kids love shooting it. My wife loved it so much she asked if she could elk hunt with it I quickly said no….your using the 7 saum I just built lol

The best I"ve found looking at load data was 3,000-3,200 which wasn't quite enough to get me excited.

Of course, now I'm wondering if I can neck the 6.5LRM down to 6mm

That sounds fun. I converted from a standard .243 to a .243AI. Huge improvement. Using RL23 and 108EH I'm getting a little over 3100fps in a 26" 8 twist Brux. ES is 9. I think the 6mm Creed is similar in configuration but a little less case capacity. I'd make one if it wasn't for this .243AI
