6.5 wsm vs 6.5 saum vs 6.5 prc - 20" SA 2.950" coal suppressed

what difference in velocity exists between the 6.5 wsm/6.5 saum/6.5 prc in a 20" 8 twist barrel run suppressed? 100 fps between them? no doubt the wsm has the shortest barrel life. i'd like to stick to the reamers available at 4drentals.com. i do not want to neck turn brass.

4drentals has 6.5/270 6.5/300 6.5/300 saum/6.5-300 saum/6.5 prc hornady/6.5 prc ga precision(freebore ~.130" no neck turn). which to choose? in the case of the saum and prc, i'd likely go with adg brass.

this will be in a short action mag bolt face with 2.950" c.o.a.l.

Have you considered the Sherman Shortmags? They were built with this in mind and have reamers, dies, and ADG no turn brass in stock.

yes. these appear to be great cartridges, but the costs to get into these are higher than i'm willing to pay. i'm not knocking the shermans in any way. just not right for me.

regarding this reamer, 6.5 prc ga precision(freebore ~.130" no neck turn) , what does the shorter freebore do for me? i'm interested in 140gr fusions, 140gr gold dots, 130 tsx, and the 120 tsx. will this freebore help or hurt me w/ a coal limit of 2.950" with these bullets?

I love my 6.5 saum, im shooting 147's @ 3050 from a 24" barrel with h1000.
I'd like to rebarrel to 20" to run suppressed myself, only problem is I can't seem to burn the barrel out.. 600 rounds so far and it's still shooting .2

You dont wanna do a 6.5x300 WSM on a short action unless you have the Bainey box or you will have a ton of bullet stuffed in the case. I'm just at 3.08 off the lands.

Not sure on the wsm.
I'm using necked down Norma brass with Hornady GAP 4s dies.
I'd definitely get ADG brass, another reason for the 6.5 saum.

I have a PRC and had a SAUM. It's been too long since I owned the saum to remember much other than speed and accuracy, which was same as everyone else in a 140 and long barrel. I didn't like the rifle so I sold it.

My PRC is a 22" proof, so I'd expect max 50 fps slower. I use ADG/Gunwerks brass. At 2.950 length the prc will have more jump then the gap based on the reamer spec you noted. IF less freebore is desire you better go that way or go with a custom PRC spec reamer. I believe the PRC is 188 freebore so you'll have jump. My PRC wound up shooting 135 A tip, 140 vld, 140 eld, 143 eld, 147 eld, and 156 all at .5 MOA or better. Jump is all over the place at 2.950 between all the bullets. My 2 go to loads are the 135 A and 156 EOL.

135A - 3100 fps
156- 2910 FPS

You can use those numbers I suppose to get an idea of what to expect from a PRC. Personally I am liking the 135 due to the blend of speed and high for bc weight. It seems to be a good all around performer in this PRC. I may look at the berger 144 at some point too.

RL26 is my go to. Retumbo is OK but the short barrel isn't the best. h1000 is decent. N565 seems to be similar to the RL26 but I haven't finished testing yet.
