6.5 SAUM versus PRC? In short barreled gun, for suppressed hunting. Or other options? How short?

6.5SS (will match SAUM)? I have a 20" pushing a 130 OTM @ 3084 not at max. You would be in the 2980 range. Or 140 @ 2900 range.
6.5MAX (think SAUM Imp 40*)? Add 50-100fps over SAUM and SS.
.260AI? I have a 20" pushing 140 Hyb @ 2914. You would be around 2750-2800. Still plenty for 500 yard deer.

All good musings. I also have a 7 SAUM. I need to explore whether my Redding bushing neck die can be used on 6.5 SAUM too. That would lessen the cost of dies. I have a Forster micrometer seater for the 7 Saum. Suspect I could even swap the seater out and make it work. But its a hassle. I like to find a good load and leave the dies alone -- sharing dies between two guns is a hassle, even if they are the same chambering. Swapping out seating stems is one bridge too far.......

Leaning more in direction of 6.5 SAUM. Might break it in with some sized down 7 SAUM RP Brass, then get some ADP brass for long run. The GA Precision brass is Hornady, which turns me off a bit. OTOH ADP is very proud of their brass. Worse than Lapua......

I use a 7 SAUM bushing die for my 6.5 SAUM. I have a 7 SAUM too and love it just as much as the 6.5 SAUM.

You can get ADG brass for 6.5 SAUM = easy button

PRC, SAUM, Sherman. All those are great in a short barrel small magnum style case. I run a 18" on one of my prc's and its an awesome set up. I'd not hesitate on any of those.

Another option is a 260Ai or 6.5 CM. Both work well in short barrels and lighter bullets like 120-130 grain. Very effective to 500.
Yeah, well I guess I could keep the barrel in 6.5 CM (which it currently is chambered for) and just chop it off and thread it and see how things go. Would be a lot cheaper. But the problem then is that my 6.5x55 Swede Tikka will likely be tossing the same bullet a lot faster -- its loaded hot with Lapua brass.

My "dream" is a short barrel suppressed gun that is so dang accurate that I can start doing neck shots on does out to 200 yards or so. And potentially do multiple kills at once. Fill the freezer, rid the area of a few whitetail and you are done. (And I am full aware that the CM can do that too!)

So what are you actually asking? You want to kill multiple animals with one shot?
No. Multiple shots. My personal record is an accidental 3 with three shots. 2 does and 1 buck. Shot at a doe and she ran. Thought I missed. Another doe arrives immediately afterwards, so I kill her. Then this buck arrives and just kind of stupidly hangs out around the dead doe. So, it was close to end of season and I had doe and buck tags. I debated -- I tend to shoot to shoot does waiting for the biggest buck. But it was nearing the end. So I pop him too.

Well the first doe was dead in the weeds. In the meantime, the Fish and Game commission couldn't care less. They want more dead does. (No we did not waste a deer, lets just say someone made a miraculous shot from very long range)

A suppressed short barrel gun allows for quicker second shots too -- lots of times the deer will freeze for a few seconds after a wounded/running dead deer runs off. You can take a second deer right then and there.
