6.5 PRC on a SA

...and the pic of the chamber stamp/engraving? I listened to Aaron on the podcast and he implied that none of their rifles they were playing with left the shop. He made it very clear that he did not want a repeat of the issues with the LRM and getting it SAAMI approved. I will listen to it again as I remember the name having the word short in it.
My 6.5LRM uses 7LRM brass. It even uses a 7LRM Hornady custom die set with different bushings and a 6.5 expander.

Just listened to the podcast again. The round Gunwerks was playing with was called the 6.5 short LRM.

If you order a PRC from Gunwerks, the code for it in the system is 6.5LRM as it was devoloped under that name, reamer they use for PRC is under LRM.

No they didn't. The 6.5LRM is simply a necked down 7LRM. The spec's for the PRC and LRM aren't even close to the same.

The 6.5 Short LRM they experimented with is a completely different cartridge altogether from the 6.5/7LRM as the specs provided show. The 6.5SLRM started with the 7LRM case but was shortened considerably so as to function properly as a true short action magnum.

The SLRM was never going to match the PRC much less the 6.5LRM so it died less than 2 years into development.

So what you are saying is your rifle is not marked as such? The 6.5 LRM is not the PRC. The 6.5 Short LRM is similar to the PRC.

I am not sure how I got sucked into an argument that means nothing. To the OP's question the PRC really needs a 3.0" mag box.

What I'm saying is that Gunwerks still list the 6.5PRC as a 65LRM in their system as it's been coded that way from the get go. Order a 6.5 PRC and your invoice will state 65LRM as that's the reamer they use.

OP - regarding mag well, I just put a PRC build together and used a Wyatt's extended .300 WSM mag well as the standard issue Remington unit did not work.

And the spec's show they are not the same round. Maybe the just have their computer system screwed up, or maybe they just filed it there since the 6.5LRM went no where just like the 6.5 SLRM.

Whatever their filing system they are not the same round period.

30cal,
Could you point me in the right direction to purchase one of those Wyatt's extended WSM mag boxes? Want to try one in a Rem 700 SAUM. Thanks!

Need one made for the WSM diameter cases.
I have a Tikka T3x CTR and I placed a 300WSM bullet into the magazine to see if it would fit no problems plenty of length. I just need a 6.5PRC round and check them out. But the CTR mag is 2.98 or 75.7 mm so I believe it will fit in as well. My gunsmith said it would fit. Just open bolt to magnum.
