6.5 options

I went with 6.5-300WSM back in 2001, I used a long action, then I looked at all of these newer options and went with 6.5x47 (2) and 260AI.
Not a single animal knows the difference, even when I'm using my 264WM or 6.5-300 Weatherby.

Choose whichever one you like the most.
I never let anyone else sway my choice. Choose a barrel length and build it.

Cheers.
Nice!
6.5mm is my favorite caliber, with .257 a close 2nd.

I have six 6.5mms:
6.5SLR
.260AI x2
6.5SS x2
6.5PRC/SI

@lancetkenyon
My favourite is, and always has been 25 cal, it is so underestimated it simply defies book ballistics.
I have:
257AI.
25-06 (3).
25-300WSM (Pronghorn) (2)
257 Weatherby (factory Accumark) & another blank with 8.5" twist, still can't find a 7.5" or 7" twist blank here. Looking at doing a 25-300 Weatherby…
6.5mm is a very close second for me, but 30 cal outshines it with number of rifles I have.

Cheers.

A speedy 257 bullet of the correct construction does things greater than it "should" for certain. Said it before, I'll say it again.
It's also a true dual purpose. And great both ways.

I've only had 4 different ones.
25/06
25/06AI
25 Sherman LA
25 Sherman Short

I suspect a Sherman Max may be next. Dude borrowed my reamer and won't send it back.

What is the 25MBK?
Is that a true SA cartridge?
Looking at something 25 to go into my custom trued Rem 700 VSSF II switch barrel. I have a 3.15" mag box.

Cheers.
25 "Man Bun Killer" (as in Creedmoor Killer)
True SA cartridge.
25-260AI with some tweaks.
OAL @ lands just under 2.980" w. 131 SMKs and 135 LRHT. 133s are a touch shorter.

So, I could run my 260AI brass into 25 cal…. Never thought of that tbh. I was thinking 250AI a few years back.
What twist you running with that?
I can only get 8" or 8.5" twist currently, wanting 7" twist.

Cheers.

I use my .260AI FL bushing die and neck down. That was my tweaks to the reamer design. JGS had a "25-308 Imp 40°" reamer, but it was way different than the ".260 Rem Imp 40°" reamer in the body dimensions. WAY off. So I worked with them to make the body/ahoulder exactly to the 260 reamer, and then altered the neck/FB/leade to match the 25CM BJ2 design. I am very pleased with the outcome.

My goal was to match my two 26" 25CM velocities (2976 & 2985fps), but in a 22" barrel.

I have surpassed those speeds. With only 50 pieces fire formed, I loaded up 15 rounds in once fired brass to see where speeds might end up. I hit 3044fps with the 131 SMK on shot #65 down the barrel and no pressure.

Thanks. Sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. I will look into this a little deeper and design a reamer.

Cheers.

Do you think the prc/si would get the 112 hht to 4000 fps or be able to get the 124hht to almost 3800 fps? Has anyone tried the 124hht in the max?
Not any of these cartridges, but just a plain old 6.5 PRC. 110 Hammer Hunters w/Rl26 at 3507 FPS. That is top end and will probably bring it down just a touch to conserve case life.

Magnum, you can use a 243 AI reamer, use a reamer pilot bushing adaptor for a 25 cal pilot bushing, then use a uni-throater.
Thanks. Well versed in designing reamers and cutting chambers & throats. I like my own leade angle generally speaking, a few tweaks here and there offer better ballistics, especially with the Improved 40° shoulder.

Cheers.
