6.5 haters

Actually nothing wrong with the cartridge…..only the hype and the cult-like following! I lump them into the HarleyDavidson (poor excuse for a quality, comfortable, efficient motorcycle) and the Jeep crowd! It's mostly about being part of the "cool crowd"!

No doubt, the 6.5 CM is an efficient, inherently accurate cartridge designed with a faster twist for the longer long range bullets of today. Put a fast twist rate barrel on any number of other 6.5 cartridges….the CM is no better than any of those.

This long range potential that the 6.5 CM offers is mostly wasted on those wanting to be part of the "cool crowd" that fall into the category of those hunters/shooters of another topic on this site…..

So…..the Benito of the overhyped 6.5 CM is mostly wasted on those that have no business shooting beyond 2 or 300 yards! JMO as per usual! memtb

Was kind of wishN a guy could just leave the H-D's and Jeeps out of the muck and mire, if for nothing less than their stalworth WWII icon status.

Let's really get this going.......Don't you find it ironic that a lot of folks who dislike one caliber because of the marketing and hype by a certain company jumped on the bandwagon for some other calibers marketed and hyped in much the same manner by that same company? Gotta love those PRCs

7mm stw shooters love their cartridge but don't act like you've kicked their puppy when you choose a prc, rum or 28 nosler.

I've never met a cartridge that died for my sins, but I've had the 6.5 creed sold as such.

About the best description I've heard right there.

For inanimate brass wrapped around a moderate powder column it gets more glazed eyed loyalty than yeti coolers, salt life stickers, vortex scopes, and stanced trucks combined. Hornady was genius in it's marketing, they got the purveyors of said well thought out moderate cartridge to push it like a religious experience.

Doesn't diminish its effectiveness, but it sure does make it fun to pick on.

It's easier to tell a fried his new girlfriend is mean and ugly than to politely turn down the 6.5 creed Kool-aid...

I simply can not grasp choosing a tool I used based on the personality of someone else that uses it.

I guess you could call bud lite a tool of some sorts. (Social lubricant, aiming fluid, hydraulic sandwich, and with the proper volume it can turn 6s into 10s).
Buuuutttt, due to the personality of some people that use it nowadays, I'll NEVER use it again!

264WM is a great 6.5. Been shooting mine since 1963. first new barrel in 2010, 85gr hp at 3824fps and 160gr Woodleigh PPSN at 3200+ fps. The Needmoor (Creedmoor) is a toy 6.5 and now they have the Nosler 6.5 and Weatherby 6.5x300 which are better yet.

Oh dear God….this reminds me of my deceased great uncle, a man of few words and strong opinions, and not a particularly sensitive or compassionate person (though a good man make no mistake)

Back in the day his best friend went through an ugly divorce…and it was plainly obvious that this friend did this to himself, it was preventable, he didn't treat his wife very well so she had enough and left.

This friend is crying the blues to my uncle about how rough it all is and she's taking half his estate and he misses her and so on…

My uncle dead serious looks at him and says "Pete, if you're looking for sympathy you'll find it in the dictionary between **** and syphilis"

I used to have a decent amount of those 85 grainers, but sent what I had to another member. Kinda ticked off that Sierra discontinued them along with other bullets I used to shoot. I did manage to get 3k of 90gr fmj 24cals before all gone. Same issue with 135gr 40cals.

Creedmoor shooters are just a quiet accuracy minded group of competent shooters who know a jewel when they see one.
It's the insecure haters who bog the internet down with meaningless diatribe, because they missed the cartridge of the century that are truly funny. If they could just stop the babble, they might not miss the ship the next time it comes in. But I doubt it....

I am often the odd duck here, but I simply can not grasp choosing a tool I used based on the personality of someone else that uses it.

I do not care if Jack from Wisconsin is annoying, I don't care what his hair style is or what he wears. I care if the tool fits my needs. Lot of annoying hippies drive Subarus too, my wife's still fits what she needs.

Making lifer choices based on what other people do or what they might think of me just does not resonate with me. I don't give a darn if someone thinks I'm __\ because I shoot a creedmoor, who cares.

How come the factory ammo defense only matters for 308, 3006 and 300 win mag? But not for 6.5 creed? Every 30 mag thread has someone talking about how you can get 300 win at the local store but not 300 norma (they are right) but it doesn't matter for 6.5s I guess. When everything else is equal and someone is starting from scratch industry support in available ammo and available components is a factor imo.
