Yessir...Len you are correct...... My 6.5x55 have performed well for me for 40 years.......
First one that caliber was in production late 1800`s.....
No bad words from me. Killed couple of truck loads of critters with 6.5
Creedmoor haters are just hilariously emotional.
For a group that prides itself in not acting emotional, much of the shooting world hates an entire cartridge because of:
. 2/3 is making your life choices based on what others might think of you, which is the softest thing I can think of to do… which is exactly what they think about creed shooters
Why in the world would I make any choice in my life based on if someone I don't know across the country is an annoying idiot and uses the same item?
People that don't want/need a 6.5 creedmoor because it doesn't fit what they want to do are different, and imo that's not a "hater" usually. This is a logical outcome based on the needs of the shooter and the properties of the cartridge, maybe they already have 260 equipment or tons of brass etc. Now, it might be based in fallacy and misunderstanding what's needed/provided, but at least it's not emotional decision making like a middle schooler.
cartridge wars in general are dumb, it's a vessel for velocity, that's it.
Except 270 win because it sucks

Actually nothing wrong with the cartridge…..only the hype and the cult-like following! I lump them into the HarleyDavidson (poor excuse for a quality, comfortable, efficient motorcycle) and the Jeep crowd! It's mostly about being part of the "cool crowd"!
No doubt, the 6.5 CM is an efficient, inherently accurate cartridge designed with a faster twist for the longer long range bullets of today. Put a fast twist rate barrel on any number of other 6.5 cartridges….the CM is no better than any of those.
This long range potential that the 6.5 CM offers is mostly wasted on those wanting to be part of the "cool crowd" that fall into the category of those hunters/shooters of another topic on this site…..
How well does the average big game hunter shoot?
!So…..the benefits of the overhyped 6.5 CM is mostly wasted on those that have no business shooting beyond 2 or 300 yards! JMO as per usual! memtb

My reasons for disliking the 6.5 Creedmoor are varied, not the least of which was already having a 260 at time of launch. No matter, to each their own.... or at least that's the case with every other cartridge. 7mm stw shooters love their cartridge but don't act like you've kicked their puppy when you choose a prc, rum or 28 nosler.
I've never met a cartridge that died for my sins, but I've had the 6.5 creed sold as such. For inanimate brass wrapped around a moderate powder column it gets more glazed eyed loyalty than yeti coolers, salt life stickers, vortex scopes, and stanced trucks combined. Hornady was genius in it's marketing, they got the purveyors of said well thought out moderate cartridge to push it like a religious experience.
Doesn't diminish its effectiveness, but it sure does make it fun to pick on.
It's easier to tell a fried his new girlfriend is mean and ugly than to politely turn down the 6.5 creed Kool-aid... or at least it has been in my social circles.

See, you're doing it again. You're mad at the inanimate cartridge because of something not related to it in reality.
For a new shooter it would be borderline illogical to start with 260 now, creedmoor won. It has more factory match ammo options for practice, it has more ammo support if you forget or lose your ammo on a hunt, it has more brass options available. If you are starting fresh picking 260 in the US is an emotional decision. It doesn't matter if it's just as good(it is), all the practical reasons make it not just as good. Unless you are set up for 260 already and then it's a perfectly normal choice.
You enveloped one paragraph of addressing the 6.5 creedmoor does as a tool with 5 paragraphs of addressing what the world does that you don't like and how that somehow has an effect on the cartridge in reality, which it doesn't.
I'm not clicking on that thread again because I think it's anti bait that's been swallowed hook line and sinker by this forum.

And Yes, I do dislike the cartridge for reasons that have nothing to do with the cartridge actually is……only the over sensationalism, over hype by many folks.
The factory ammunition defense is mostly baseless as per my previous statement…..the average Joe that bought into the hype-factor cannot/will not benefit from it's long range usefulness. So now we're down to precision hand loaders/shooters, that can make several other 6.5 equal to or superior to the 6.5 CM!

I am often the odd duck here, but I simply can not grasp choosing a tool I used based on the personality of someone else that uses it.
I do not care if Jack from Wisconsin is annoying, I don't care what his hair style is or what he wears. I care if the tool fits my needs. Lot of annoying hippies drive Subarus too, my wife's still fits what she needs.
Making lifer choices based on what other people do or what they might think of me just does not resonate with me. I don't give a darn if someone thinks I'm __\ because I shoot a creedmoor, who cares.
How come the factory ammo defense only matters for 308, 3006 and 300 win mag? But not for 6.5 creed? Every 30 mag thread has someone talking about how you can get 300 win at the local store but not 300 norma (they are right) but it doesn't matter for 6.5s I guess. When everything else is equal and someone is starting from scratch industry support in available ammo and available components is a factor imo.
I will state this about the 6.5creed.......IF I owned a 260rem in an AR platform 1st, I wouldn't have bought a 6.5creed. My only interest was because it's a 26cal. I necked down a 300norna to a 26cal, but barrel life wouldn't make it past load development.

I don't understand the reason for "influencers." Who cares what these self-described are important to no one. As far as I'm concerned, these folks serve no actual use to civilized society.In reality we as well as the whole world would be much better off if media influencers would keep their mouths shut and since all the hand wagging probably isn't American Sign Lauguage we wouldn't have to see or listen to them talking about something they know absolutely nothing about.
