(Bow/arrow example: all else being equal- if velocity and projectile are the same, the animal can't read the print on on the riser or the head stamp on a cartridge)

The Creedmoor bro that thinks it'll kill a T Rex at a mile or whatever is a straw man. I've been searching the inter webs for years hoping to meet this person so I can ridicule them, but I think I'm more likely to get drawn for a bighorn first.

But Tyler Freel (Outdoor Life) did actually kill a B&C sized griz with a Creedmoor recently. Don't think it was a mile, but it certainly triggered a lot of fudds.
Well have to say there is a steel mill in Colorado where you can meet this man as well as a public shooting range where you can find lots of man buns and people who believe it is a tomahawk missile launcher. As for size Roy Weatherby took the 257 WM and killed an elephant. I would say I would want an *** load of PH behind me with WAY bigger rounds for back up. Same with shooting a griz with a cm.

Could certainly be done, though if used intentionally🙀 ….I know how the "fudd" is! 😉 memtb
It's the Indian, not the arrow. Freel's taken browns with recurves- despite what some skeptics insist, those are a lot less powerful than a Creedmoor.

Me too, obviously...... but not everyone puts in the time or effort to be good at it. Your average Joe is more likely to have a successful hunt with something that he isn't scared of.
Funny that you bring that up. I have a friend that hunts every year like clock work and acts like he is a big outdoorsman. He had a 300 A bolt new in box for almost a decade. He broke it out had a brake made for it and asked me to load for him. I explain to him that 0.308 was the bullet diameter and he could choose a bullet in that range at whatever weight he wanted. Tried to help with bullet selection but he chose 180 gr Federal fusion (what another friend of his shoots). Not a horrible bullet but not what a lot of us would have chosen. Now we cannot find them and he keeps complaining that he wants some more rounds. I suggested the 178 ELD x the other day and he tells me that doesn't say 300 . So I assured him again it would work and suggested he go to this bullet as they can be found and Hornady keeps the shelves full at most places. Slightly long winded but him and his buddy keep saying that they only shoot a certain range and that what they have will do the job. I kept pressing them about range and finally got 500 yards. I was prying and asked them how they knew they could shoot 500 yards and they pointed to a box of Federal premium factory rounds and said there is a elevation chart on the box and they knew they could use that. I was like ok have you ever shot 500 yards with that rifle? No we sight in a 200 and know if we use this elevation chart we are good. The average Joe even when not shooting the Creedmoor is bad. I know long winded but explaining the average Joe. So to say the least I now need to find a new group to hunt with

So do I find the Man bun bullets next to the Bud Light at Target?

Who is the Butt shooter,

Creedmoor you get $10 off a case of Bud light and 10% off a tuck friendly swimsuit at Target. AND if you wear your "Build back Better" hat you get a Cracker Barrel gift certificate!
Man buns, bud light and butt shooting. Yep it's another thread about the creedmoor. If I did have one I would keep it in the closet.

Completely different form of killing methods.

Example: Even the "fabled" 6.5 CM bullet will be easily stopped by a sandbag that the aforementioned recurve fired arrow will easily penetrate!

I strongly suspect that Freel is accompanied by professional guides/hunters with fairly substantial firearms.

I'd like to see a list of Alaskan or African PH's that use a 6.5 CM as a stopping rifle. I would assume that they use a fairly powerful cartridge pushing a fairly large projectile to prevent themselves or their paying clientele from becoming a statistic that will not look good in their brochures at the Safari Club gatherings!

Shall we continue to compare apples and oranges! 😉 memtb

Nothing special or wrong with the 6.5 cm. It's just it was unnecessary with the 260 rem and other 6.5s already out there. I think what makes many haters are that people seem to think it's the best thing since edible underwear thanks to marketing. I know people who have given me crap about hunting with my 260 rem and like 5 years later they get appalled when anyone talks ill of the 6.5cm.
Don't argue with ignorant or , misinformed people.those same people would probably think the 6.5 CREED would make a great elephant gun.

With that said and possibly side tracking this thread....what would you consider minimum cartridge for a stopping gun?

You win a brand new 6.5 creed (not really for the record) for that comment, but you have to grow a manbun and bring a 6-pack of Bud Light with ya to pick it up, but keep that butt shooting at home in the closet where it belongs.

Freel IS the guide. And nah- the dude is a recluse that lives in central AK.

Obviously those are different killing methods- the point is simply that any medium sized cartridge delivering +2k ftlbs of KE at velocities +2.5k fps is going to induce some significant hydrostatic shock that an arrow won't. If you've gotta hunt a griz and your only tools at hand are a Creed and a recurve- are you grabbing the recurve?
The bow point was simply to illustrate that the guy is not an ignorant novice just grabbing some trendy cartridge and stretching it beyond its means. He's among the most accomplished big game hunters and has the receipts. He'll add this one to the list.

Guide guns are intended as self defense weapons of last resort, not hunting rifles. It's not like AK guides are using .375H&H as their preferred personal hunting rifle.
