6.5 Grendel is deadly!

Yup my first 6.5 Grendel was an Alexander Over-Watch. It was so nice my friend just had to own it - so now he does.
Shortly after I bought the Mini Howa 6.5 Grendel, heavy barrel. Sweet :)

Try red loctite on the barrel tenon and a wedge for the rear lower pin. These two things helped my rifle shoot.

DON'T USE RED LOCTKTE UNLESS YOU NEVER EXPECT TO PULL IT APART. Use BLUE Loctite to bed a barrel in an AR. You have to use enough heat to damage the frame to get a barrel loose after using RED. I also suggest that you squire the front of the action before barrel install.

I have successfully used red loctite multiple times and will continue. I've had no issues separating the barrel and upper. Appreciate the warning

Mine is scary accurate as well. This was one of the highest priced Grendel's that Alexander arms made at the time. No matter how much it cost the Performance was just not there using the sst or the amax. I just started using the eld's and everything has dropped in it tracks with major internal damage to shoulder and rib bones not to mention organ damage. Guess it's time to sell some amax and sst.

Very nice :)

Very nice all you young hunters, lol. I use barnes100gr ttsx bullets. There running 3000fps in a 9 twist, 24" barrel.they stop just about any thing you shoot at. I use a hot load of 35gr of ww748, br4 primers, lapis brass.dont try this same load, start a few grains lower, your gun chamber could be alot tighter. But I think 748 is one of the best powers for a grendel.

Have built my first two in grendel over this winter. One pistol and one rifle. Have lapua, starline and hornady brass, a robust collection of 6.5 heads and powders...and ive loaded none so far. The snow got me before i could get serious. Preliminary zeroing has shown great promise with the hornady american gunner stuff in both.
Come on spring!!

Very exciting! Thanks for sharing. How much was your total AR? I would like to do a 6.5 grendal AR. Also, since everyone is sharing 6.5G porn, here is my little brothers ruger American in 6.5G. Bada%% little gun for $400. It's got a Bushnell engage on it, muzzle brake, and he's got a nice Boyd's spotter stock but he hasn't put it on yet.

Nice to see a 6.5 G in a bolt action. That would be fun! I can't find the cost list for my parts Grendel (264 LBC). It was over $800 without scope. This is before I found a scope for it. (Update - found my parts list)

Thanks for posting the results on the 123 ELD. I just bought a case and am hoping for better results than the SST. I've taken quite a few deer with my Grendel and I have also lost a few. I have shot 20 pigs this year with the 123 SST and 17 have gotten back up and run. I've shot them in the shoulder, behind the shoulder and in the face and just like the energizer bunny they just keep going. Hopefully I will have better results with the ELD's.

I hope it works for you but if the SST wasn't a tough enough bullet I doubt the ELD-m will be. If you need better performance than the 123SST you might want to try a Barnes 120TTSX or a 130 grain Swift Sirroco II. If thise are not the profile you need the 130gr Nosler Accubond should give you better performance on tough game.
