Much like a Savage; barrel nut, floating bolt head. Also, a small ejection port and a stiff receiver. Think of it as a modern day 788. Better get one before they discontinue them for showing up the 700s

The distance in my photo was 100 yards off a bipod with a rear, small sandbag.
For $600 and an upgraded barrel and scope you can't lose. The 783 is like all the other budget guns. Trying to be built cheap but still dependable and accurate. My brother has the 770 and it's alright gun. It works. From the reviews I've read the 783 is a step up.
I would also look at the ruger American predator in 6.5CM. My dad and brother both own one and they shoot extremely well, and the bolt throw is smooth and quick. The stock leaves a lot to be desired. They both upgraded to Boyd's laminates for about $120.
What is a budget? Didn't know that kind of word exsisted today with all the fancy people on here and their high end guns and scopes! I like it!
Kind of need to stay in the 24" barrel to wring all the juice out of the powder from what I have heard. I have the Ruger Percision that I've had pretty good luck with five shots @ 100 yards that you can cover with a dime And not see paper Tears
Time for a quick poll. How many haters out there for the 6.5 CM have ever owned one or better yet developed a load for one?
I have been converted on this as well..... I actually went out and bought one and tried it. Seems silly I know but best to speak from experience don't you think?

To carry that discussion further, It's like leaving a review on a hotel you never stayed at. Just because you stayed at one down the street doesn't qualify for an opinion. It's like....... fake news. I owned a 6.5 creedmoor, a 260 in an AIAW, and a DTAgen2, a custom 6.5x47, 6.5-284, and 260AI. I saw no advantage with any of them over the other. I settled on the .260AI for an all around hunting and field match gun. If it were just a target rifle, I would go with the 6.5x47, I have found that the most consistent of the lot. They can all win in the right hands. The buzz comes from the over the counter ammo, which hornady, and prime got right. Not a hater of the creedmoor, but it's just another round pushing the 140 in the 2750-2850fps range. * yes you can over pressure the **** out of it and go faster, but, like the rest, it seemed to work well in the velocity range mentioned above.
Gotz 3 right now out of about 8 different creeds last 6 months or so. Reload for all of them!

Have you ever weighed that HMR stock? I've considered grabbing one off eBay for an affordable adjustable stock on a rifle build.

Ummm, blowing smoke up everyone's *** claiming it's comparable to a .300WM... Also, they got the caliber diameter wrong.
No sir I have not. That was a bergara premier LRP when I got it so the legit bergara action in a chassis and just not a chassis guy so sold the chassis and got the hmr pro stock. These are night and day difference on the regular HMR they offer, very nice action.
For the money I think the hmr stocks are a very good value. I will be glad to weigh it when I get the chance.
