I've got a 700 short action with an HS precision factory detachable mag stock.
Long story on why it's a short action.
A lot of feed lip modification is required to get it to feed but it has never fed well.
So I'm looking for recommendations for an AICS compatible DBM bottom metal and a magazine that will feed the 6.5-284 even if it requires a stock change as a last resort. I really like the stock. Any help?

Can you get a straight up feed...might short you a round or two...but who needs all that extra ammo anyways....being every rifle is a 'sniper rifle'.....

I use a AICS setup from Accurate Mag on a short action Savage setup with a non binder plate magazine. My OAL is only 2.950 but I also purposely had the barrel reamed with a short throated non-Norma reamer. I get really good accuracy with the 143gr Bondstrike at 2930 fps using Norma MRP.

I'm not a fan of DBM set-ups, but when I was building customs on REM 700 SA, all of my bottom metal set-ups were Blued/Stainless PT&G sets for AICS magazines. I believe, from memory, that they are longer internally than the stock mag length. Most of my builds I had to be talked into doing DBM, the PT&G was the only one that I was confident with, I cannot use a cast bottom metal, it just goes against my ethics.

Cheers.

If you will change stocks the Magpul stock has a very good Magpul DBM system that uses the Magpul mags.

I looked at the PTG setup after posting this. Looks like a solid option.
