So this rifle started life as a savage 110 package gun in 270win from the early 1990's. My father has an affinity for 6.5mm cartridges so I decided to build one in 6.5-284 Norma.

Action: savage 110 flat back (long action)
Barrel: Criterion 6.5-284 1:8" twist 26" Light varmint contour
Stock: stockade woodchuck hydrodipped into wtp 261 film and matte clear coat
Trigger: original savage tuned down to 2#
Scope and Mounts: sightron SIII 6-24X50 DNZ Hunt masters Medium height
Add ons: stockade bolt handle and bolt lift kit, all metal cerakoted graphite black semi gloss
all work was done by myself and friend, stock was done by stockade and high caliber gunsmithing
Weight: bathroom scale says 12.2 pounds but it is very well balanced.

load: Retumbo 56.5 grains
140 berger hunting VLD
Federal 215
COAL approximately 3.123"
3010fps (calculated using drop at 300 and 500 yds)

Wow...awesome rifle. Your father is a lucky man. What do you think he will use the rifle for? It will pretty much be good for everything except really big game like elk.

Thanks guys,

I think he plans on using it mainly for deer, antelope, and wild pigs. Elk would be a possibility but he has larger rifles for that. We haven't gotten together for a shoot yet, but he has seen and held it and likes it.
