6.5 156 EOL

Finally got to stretch the legs of my saum with the 156s and the definitely didn't disappoint. 1004yds and crossing through 10mph winds from two different directions along the way. I'm pretty satisfied with the load. Just shy of 7 mils of elevation with .2 windage.

Did I mention it's my first time at 1000+ yards?
Nice! load and velocity?

I have a question about the 156gr Berger EOL in a 6.5 PRC.

I have a box of Choice Ammunition with 140gr Accubond with COAL of 2.810

I have a box of Choice Ammunition with 143gr ELD-X with COAL of 2.955

Did I read correctly in this thread that those of you who have loaded this bullet in a 6.5PRC that your COAL was 3.060?

Clearly a long 700-type action is needed.

Some guys are running single feed, wyatt's boxes or medium actions for the 156's so those OAL's can be a bit deceiving.

it is needed if you want to be able to seat the bullet out and get full potential. that being said sometimes the bullet likes to be seated .1 and would have fit in a shorter box.

I recently shot five 156 gr rounds in my 6.5 Addiction (6.5x55 improved, which I understand has a similar and maybe a touch more capacity than the 6.5-284), 26" 1:7.5 twist Bartlein barrel:

Heavy bolt swipe, ejector plunger mark.

Ditto, brass flow around the ejector plunger.

I found the upper limit quickly (52.0 gr), and now I need to work down from that, as well as trying H1000 and Retumbo.

CBTO 2.4350" and a 0.0150" jump for a COAL of 3.1400".

Interestingly, at 491 m I required an elevation of 6.00 moa , but my 150 gr SMK rounds running at a very consistent 3,000 fps needed 1 moa more.

6.5 prc max coal is 3.072". loading 3.050" @ 2998 fps with H1000. ED is running a little high, will try increasing jump to lower when I can get to the range.

6.5x284 with retumbo 54 gr @2,917 55@2,932 shot in the same hole as the 140's@3,020 at 200 yards, need to keep going on that load in smaller increments.
N570 was too slow, couldn't get enough in the case to hit 2,800.
IMR 7828 might be a good option

Anyone know how this Berger stacks up against the 150gr and 160gr heavies from Matrix on game? Obviously, the BC is higher, so it offers extended range. I'm curious if anyone has first-hand experience with performance advantages or disadvantages.
