I have mark-V .340 wby 26'' factory barrel, I'm shooting the barnes xtp 185
at 3400 fps excellent elk load shoot an elk October 2014 hunt in NM at 403 yards
measured with leupold range finder .
penetrated the elk totally up to the opposite side barely under the skin.
thus I consider it excellent load and combination for long distances elk,also
killed 2 nice white tail bucks they just drop like a ton of bricks .
my load is always been IMR 4350, 88grs,FED 215.
average MV=3440 FPS SD 8FPS.
