338 XC, Snipetac, or EnABELR

My end goal would be to kill a wolf or coyote at 1500 one day and elk ect at 1000
Past that atleast right now I'm not a good enoug shot to confident further than that.
Have no doubt their are guys on here that could…
Non related but funny
Last two times I went hunting I saw
People miss inside of 200yards multiple times 🤦🏻

Figuring out that no one makes a stock for the Tac Driver action that weighs around 30oz. They all seem to be 4lbs or more. Guess I'll have to have a custom one made, to be able to make my weight.

I thought a Tac-30 had a Rem700 footprint

Don't get more descriptive than that.

Take a look at the manners t4 the straight stock with the elite carbon fiber shell. Not the adjustable one should be about 34 Oz They will cut it for the smaller tac 408 they don't advertise it but they'll do it if you ask.

F-Class and LRT stocks are the only ones they said would work and they can't make them lighter. I know Manners makes a good product, but I can get a custom one cheaper, I've figured out from looking around.

They must have stopped inletting the lighter stocks for it then. If the F class and LRT are your only choices then yeah no deal. Not only are they way heavy, but way too bulky for a hunting gun as well. Not to mention they're about 13 to $1500. Too bad they stopped doing the lighter stocks this is what one looked like when they still did:

That action makes the stock look small. I figured there would be more options out there for this action size. The other part is the lack of willingness to accommodate the action. The other thing I've discovered is only two options for scope bases.

You are correct, it does make it look small, although if you saw a complete gun in one the shorter barrel you would have on a hunting gun offsets it somewhat. Not a lot of great options in stocks at all, and without the carbon stocks, virtually nothing that's going to meet your weight limit. Basically you have the McMillan A5 and A6 supermags, The Manners and Mcmillan competition stocks, and the cadex and mcrees precision chassis. All are five + pounds or better. Part of the problem is the gun you're trying to build goes the opposite way of about 98% of the builds on this action. Most people building on an action this size are trying to get the gun as heavy as possible for stability and recoil control. If you can get a custom stock made it would be the way to go for your purposes. I would just caution to be sure it will stand up to the recoil of your chosen round. Not to point out the obvious but losing weight typically means losing strength. Mcrees used to make scope bases in a bunch of different cants and heights. Now they only make a couple and they're for the bigger action. Although they are a custom shop so I'm sure they still have programming in the machine. If you ask they might run you a custom one.

Also just noticed in one of your earlier posts you said you were thinking 32" on the barrel? You're going to need a carbon barrel to make weight and I'm not sure I've ever seen one that long. In a proof, for that shank size, your only option is 375 caliber and that one is only 30" and it's still over 6 pounds.
