.308win & RE 17

I've got 500 190 SMK's that I'm going to try with the new Alliant Power Pro 2000 MR. It is a ball powder specifically designed with the heavies in .223, and we know those powders also work well with heavier bullets in the .308 too. It's supposed to be more temp stable, we'll see. I don't think the RL 17 works well with less than 200 gr. bullets in the .308. I think the 2000 MR will work well with the 180-190 class a little better.

I think it is supposed to do just that.

1: The 11x will stabilize them just fine up to the transonic zone (well past 1000 yards).

2: RL17 is great but I have had better luck with VV N550. It settles in the case better for deeper seating depth allowing me to load them into a Wyatt magazine. It also takes a tad less powder for equal velocity.

All in all, the 208/210 with RL17 or N550 is a note worthy combo for the 308.
