300 wsm or 6.5 prc

With that load data you either single feed or use a long action if you want to use your magazine.

No Sir! Mag allows 3.003" but for best compromise my COAL = 2.968" and CBTO = 2.197".

Not a even race my friend . With elk in the equation it's 300wsm . Elk are big animals and it gets very windy in elk country

I know plenty of guys who use 6.5cm 6.5saum 6.5x55 etc to kill elk. I'd choose something bigger though. I say that yet I shot a bear, DRT with the Creedmoor and my kids use it for elk too.

Most Rem SA mag boxes are 2.835"ish. Hornady lists the COAL for the PRC as 2.955". Maybe Wyatt's has a mag box that would work. If you're not wanting to get that creative, the new 6.5prc could be a no go.

I mentioned a 3" box, I keep forgetting PTG sells a Baney box that's 3.11 inside would be perfect for the 300 WSM and 215's.

If you're wanting to use a BDL bottom metal, Wyart's Does sell a longer box and follower. The receiver will need to be milled and the bolt stop shortened. Could be beneficial for either cartridge.

Both of them like them both but after being attacked by a bear trying to get my elk the 300 Winchester short mag would have been better shooting at the bear vidmar 6.5 that's all I got to say you don't know what happens to you while you're out there but always be prepared as I was not

I agree with you totally about the bear you always have to be prepared why would take the 300 Winchester short mag love both calibers but all that would be the one to take
