300 WSM load workup

I would try a few rounds with 4831sc, I have tried rl17,19,23,15, 26 a couple 4350's, and with any bullet 165gr+ i always end up back at 4831 for the consistency and accuracy. Some push a bit faster but none seemed to give me the same level of accuracy.

I haven't done a lot of work yet with my long action and RL23 pushing 200 and 210 gr Accubond down a 1:8.5 Bartlein CF 26". But so far the 210 seems to consistently group smaller. I consistently get 0.3 to 0.5 moa groups in a short action with RL16 pushing 180 Scirocco II down a 1:10 Brux SS 26". Both lit by WLRM. This info may help you with burn rate:bullet weight ratio since neither powder seems to be readily available these days. Otherwise RL23 has been widely reputed to provide stellar performance with 210 to 230 gr in 300 WSM with 1:9 twist.

You might look at the burn rate of Ramshot Grand and H1000 if they're available near San Antonio. Wrong side of town for you but Trainer Hale Shooter Supply may have what you're looking for.

Trainer Hale is definitely my go to for powders! H4350 is the powder of choice for 300WSM using weights 195 and less.

I have a long throated McGowan 300 wsm with 1/9 22". I tried h4350, h4831sc,h1000,h100v and n560 with 200gr. Eldx. All gave me between 2795-2850. H4350,h100v and n560 all gave me 3/4" at 100 yds.

Even with that heavy of a bullet, some BR guys are running H4350. I run it but with 180 grain bullets.

So I was able to sneak a quick trip to the 100 yard range nearby, Ran a ladder from 55-62.5 of H4350 with 210M primers. At a COAL of 3.140 and on my rifle never hit pressure. I'll probably load a few more and grip to find pressure this week. Rifle shot great, all shots within 1.5 inches with different powder charges.

Ditto on the 4831 SC. I shoot it with the 215 hybrid .2k below max box length for my Savage 12 short action. Shoots ½ MOA all day out to 600 yards providing I do my part. Velocity is about 2740.

I use 7828 ssc with 208 and 212 gr bullets. One hole accuracy.....the 212's run right at 2820 fps from a 24" barrel and absolutely no pressure signs.

I just bought a 8 pound keg, let's hope it does, otherwise the 6 CM will need a barrel sooner than later.

I had worked out a load for 300 WSM using 70gr of N565, Berger 215s, Fed 215M, and ADG brass with a COAL of 3.145. Rifle was built in a LA receiver using a 26 inch Proof CF barrel.
Well at 100 shoots 3/4 MOA @2850 with an SD of 8.
Here's the issue, took it today to the 300 yard range and it kind of sucks, 4- 5 inch groups. All hardware appears to be on point. Now what would you do next, switch powders? Bullets? I'd like to stay with the 215s if possible.

I just worked up a 300 wsm for a buddy and Staball 6.5 was great! 208 grain Hornady eldm.

I gave up loading for mine. Federal Trophy bonded tip factory ammo 180 gr bullet always seemed to out perform me.
3 shot 300 yard group with factory ammo. I just couldn't match it. ( I'll admit there was a fair amount of luck there as I'm not that good but consistently under 1/2" at 100 yds as well.)

Love that Trophy bonded bullet...I did some handholds for buddies .280AI and it devastated his moose and a WT deer a few weeks later.
