Fair enough, do you normally carry muzzle up or muzzle down? Muzzle down with a finger cot on the can is normal for me. FWIW I don't think something like a TBAC Dominus would be too much on a 26" barrel. 6" and 10oz all in, and with the CB brake takes just a few seconds to put on and off if it doesn't fit where you want to carry it. SiCo Scythe is a good option also.I should be clearer then, I'm not necessarily actively hunting in the woods, but the rifle may be on my pack or shoulder while walking to the next ridge or bowl that we are going to set up on. Then head off on a stalk.
I very strongly dislike normal two-point slings so I use a scabbard I can shove the whole rifle into. This is one of the packs I use. Spin off can (if I'm using a long barrel/ and or long can), stick it in the water bottle pocket, shove rifle in the scabbard. Pack doubles as rest instead of a bipod in general, but can throw the Evo into the pack if needed.

The A2LS is a larger four-panel side scabbard, similar in length to the A2SS 3-panel scabbard. The A2LS Bolt Sniper Rifle scabbard is recommended for conventional bolt-action rifles with 50mm objective scopes and/or bipods (but note, depending on the configuration it is not likely to work with...
