Interesting. It sounds like a special run of military brass. The newer cases are most certainly different than what you have. I was able to verify from a trusted source that a new unfired Lapua 300 WM case weighs 216.3 grains.

Ok, that is interesting.
I have only used the same 2 50 lot batches, still have 4 boxes unopened.

I think I'm going to try Peterson brass for 300 Win mag. If I like it, I might try it in other cartridges.

I have two hundred left and one box is 214.0-215.0 and the other 216.0-217.0 so same weight as some of the Norma I tried. might have been made at the Norma factory but must be a different process or alloy of the brass cup they use not sure but Lapua lasts longer. also have some red box Lapua ammo and that weights 262.0- 262.8 grains. have no idea who makes that.

I commonly hear that the alloy must be different because the Lapua headstamped Norma brass lasts longer. I recently got 7-8 max pressure reloads in my CA Ridgeline with Nosler cases before the pockets loosened, and I have some Norma cases that are showing promise after 4 reloads in my other 300 WM. I figure 7-8 loads is pretty good considering I was losing primer pockets after 3-4 max loads with RP brass.

How many loads do you get out of your 214-217 grain Lapua cases?

Weighed a half doz 300 WM cases last night headstamped "Lapua". Weights were between 212 gr and 215 gr - this was after prep and were 15 to 20 years old as they were used on a couple of N.Z. Hunts.

I have got 8-10 on w-w brass a couple more on n Norma running 77.5 gr h-1000 and 208 amax and now the 208 bthp match. Lapua brass made 25 before some in the batch of 50 showed faint case head shadow like case head separation just tossed all 50. trying ADG second run is better than first 10 reloads before losing primers. glad I still have Lapua brass. lapua and norma have 93.1 case capacity, w-w 89.6. add ADG 88.7.

25?! Holy smokes. It's hard for me to believe that it could be that it could that much different. It would be nice to get 50 pieces of brass to last through most of the barrel life on a 300 WM.

It might be worth grabbing some Lapua Naturalis just for the brass.

my barrel has just over 1500 rounds on it. using what is left of barrel to test ADG,PETERSON when available, BERTRAM when more comes in. replacing barrel over winter so saving my Lapua for new barrel don't like used brass in new barrel

So, I'm not the only one with heavier brass.
As I said, I have heard many rumors about whom Lapua sourced their belted brass from.
