300 win mag brass

I just bought 200 ADG 300 WM. They look good. Lots of good reviews on ADG brass comparing them to lapua. I'm expecting great things but still waiting on my rifle to be built. So nothing first hand except looking at them.

Not sure how you can do a comparison of Norma/Nosler 300WM brass to Lapua in as much as Lapua don't make 300 WM belted cases.

I find Nosler 300 WM cases very consistent with exact centered flash holes and no internal burrs. I also find that Nosler brass anneals easily and has consistent neck tension.

I run Remington 300wm brass and it seems tough. I stopped using Norma/nosler because I would lose primer pockets after 2 firings at top loads. I've got 6+ out of Remington at the same node.

I run Norma in 300 Weatherby, 6.5 Creed and soon to be 300 Win mag.
I got 10+ firings in 300 Weatherby running a hex coated 225 bthp and 225 ELD both were running close to 3000 fps,
2975 fps and 2990 fps I believe.
I would have to believe, if you are only getting two firings before primer pockets looesen up, it's not the brass, it's your load.

Absolutely. I agree. Trying to hit the magical 3000fps with the 300wm using 210-215 gr pills. Seems like nosler didn't want to go much over 2800 Norma a little better. 26" tube

Every load I've built over the years for a 300WM, I always chrono them to be at less than 3000 fps. Why eat up the throat for more speed when less will do the same job with a tad more bullet drop. Never have had any issue with loose pockets either. I like to have my brass go that extra mile if possible, They get annealed after every third load. Last stick I built a load for chronoed at 2925 FPS and the owner took an elk at 675 yards, one shot in the right place. 185 Berger VLD with H1000 in Nosler brass with Federal LRN primers. Yes, the bullet drop was substantial but that is what dial turrents are for.

That's my point. Lapua never made them. Norma made them and put "Lapua" on the Headstamp.

The last 300wm I had built was a 26" proof throated for 215's. Pushing 215 hybrids over 3000fps. 74.5gr 4831sc. I know you would laugh if I posted the actual fps.
If I was worried about throat erosion I would have built a 6.5 creedmoor. I was simply stating that maxed out Remington brass seems tougher.

Lapua used to load belted mags, 300WM, 300 Weatherby & 300 H&H.
As far as I remember, only 300WM was offered as a component, but that may be incorrect.
Lapua cases definitely don't weigh anywhere near 215gr.

There was talk of Lapua taking up short runs of 7RM & 300WM.

How much do the Lapua cases weigh?

You can still get the Naturalis line of non-lead ammunition available in 300 WM. I'm not sure of what's on the headstamp, but at $4.68 per round, I'll let someone else tell me what's on there.

Also, Since the NAMMO merge a couple years ago, I suspect that the brass you get with ABM/Berger ammunition is really close to the stuff Norma produced for Lapua years ago.

The Lapua cases weigh more than Remington, Winchester and Hornady (Frontier stamp), but less than Federal.
The one's I have weighed were 246-247gr.
Norma cases weigh 215-218gr.

I have heard over the years that Lapua had 300WM made for them by Norma (doubt it) RWS and Sellior & Bellott. I don't know who made it, but it doesn't match Norma in internal shape, capacity or weight.

Unless Kevin Thomas is completely full of crap, Norma made Lapua's belted cases. It could be that there was more than one production contract.

I've never seen Lapua 300 WM cases weighing more than 218 grains. It doesn't mean there aren't heavy ones out there, I've just never seen them.

I also have several 100 piece lots of "Lapua" 300 WM dedicated to specific rifles - all very consistent. One lot is for a Melvin Forbes Ultra Light Arms 300 WM and the other is a Dana Campbell Mountain Rifles Inc. 300 WM. I will check the weight of some of the cases to see how they compare,

Was Kevin working in Finnland in the 80's, cause the brass I have is from 1986, that's the year it was bought, all new in Lapua boxes.
The guy I bought this from said it was special order for a US shooting team that was surplass and sold here in Australia at a match. He never used a single piece of it. It was 300 cases, in boxes, and shrink wrapped as one lot. I have never seen cases wrapped in that number since.

They do not look like Norma cases internally, even using a bore scope there is significant differences.
It appears more like a military type configuration, unless special runs were made, then I don't know the true source.

Interesting. It sounds like a special run of military brass. The newer cases are most certainly different than what you have. I was able to verify from a trusted source that a new unfired Lapua 300 WM case weighs 216.3 grains.
